U-Verse Realtime v1.4.1.0 is released.
The program (.exe installer) may be downloaded here.
If you have already installed v1.4.0.0 or earlier, you can install this version on top of it and it will upgrade. Previous versions will also auto-update to this new version.
U-Verse Realtime is a standalone program that can retrieve information from a typical residential installation of the AT&T U-Verse IPTV system. Some of the information displayed consists of VDSL line analysis, network interface data rates, DVR information, and STB channel and stream information. This program requires that your U-Verse Residential Gateway (the 2Wire 3800HGV-B, 3801HGV, 3600HGV, or i3812V) be running firmware version 6.1.9.24 or 6.3.1.47 only. Previous versions will not work with this program.
U-Verse Realtime v1.4.1.0 is the evolution of the previous program, 2WireRealtime. The new features added to UVerse Realtime expand its functionality beyond simply looking at statistics from the 2Wire 3800HGV router, so the program was renamed to better reflect its scope. 2WireRealtime will not auto-update to U-Verse Realtime, you must download the new installer.
Fixes and New Features
- Fix program crash when user's line had a recommended profile of "No Svc"
- Add Paypal Donate button to About tab (and thank you for your support!)
- Add Aggregate / Line 1 / Line 2 stats label to bitloading graph for iNID (2Wire i3812V router)
- Misc documentation updates
- Channel database updates - Add 38 national channels, 143 local channels
As always, please post here with any problems or questions.

U-Verse Realtime is is a standalone program for PC computers that can retrieve information from a typical residential installation of the AT&T U-Verse IPTV/VOIP/Internet system. Some of the information displayed consists of VDSL line analysis, network interface data rates, DVR information, and STB channel and stream information..
The new home of U-Verse Realtime is www.uverserealtime.com. The program (.exe installer) may be downloaded from this web site, as well as documentation.
If you have already installed a previous version of U-Verse Realtime, you can install any new version on top of it and it will upgrade. Previous versions will also auto-update to any new version.
This program requires that your U-Verse Residential Gateway (the 2Wire 3800HGV-B, 3801HGV, 3600HGV, or i3812V) be running firmware version 6.x or higher only. Previous versions will not work with this program.

I will post all new update notifications and channel database notifications to this thread. This will avoid having to create a new thread for each new version of the program.
Thank you for your support of this program!

Been working on UVRT 1.5.0.0 today.
Major new feature is the embedded web server for looking at DVR and STB stream information from a remote location.
A little sneak preview of the STB channels/streams web page, running on Android 2.2 (Motorola Droid):

U-Verse Realtime v1.5.0.0 is released.
The program (.exe installer) may be downloaded from the U-Verse Realtime web site.
If you have already installed v1.4.1.0 or earlier, you can install this version on top of it and it will upgrade. Previous versions will also auto-update to this new version.
Fixes and New Features
- U-Verse Realtime now contains an embedded web server to remotely view DVR and Channels/Streams data. See the documentation for configuration instructions.
- Fix bug introduced in v1.4.1.0 concerning highlighting color of the recommended profile. In some cases, the profile would be highlighted green even when that didn't match the user's actual line profile.
- Fix bug in recommended profile for 3600HGV (Internet only) installations. From line stats database, nominal profile for 3600HGV Internet-only installation should be 13200/1528 on single-line standard frequency plan (same as 3800HGV-B).
- Recommended profile was computed with a 5% margin of reserve bits required. This is no longer the case, and the recommended profile now allows down to 0 reserve bits. This allows higher recommended profiles for some people whose line is only barely able to carry a given profile.
- Channel database and channel descriptions are now Unicode compliant, allowing them to hold non-ASCII characters such as "ñ"
- Misc documentation updates
- Channel database updates - Add 3 national channels, add 15 local channels, fix multicast IP addresses and descriptions for 4 existing channels
A preview of the web server Channel Information page:

My coax boxes have been showing up for 2 days, until...
I downloaded the latest version, and the program crashed 3 times, then next time I opened, they were gone (still are).
Crash was due to enabling the Embedded Web Server; it did not like Port 80 (twice); changed it to something else, and it finally accepted the password.
But now is crashing when I try to access the Outside URL; server times out on computer and iPod. Inside URL works fine.
Just reporting back; open to suggestions.

You must have something else on the computer using port 80. I'll have to investigate why the program crashes under that condition. In the meantime, use a different port (try 8080).
To access the outside URL, you need to have the firewall in the RG set up to take inbound connections on that port, otherwise trying to go to the outside URL will time out. Instructions for setting up the RG's firewall are in the documentation (Start -> Programs -> U-Verse Realtime -> ReadMe).
When you say "crashing when I try to access the Outside URL", do you actually mean that the web browser trying to access it just times out, or that the UVRT desktop application actually crashes and quits?

Thought I had replied back...
Didn't see any Port 80 that I opened, but it did pop up for a Dell Update Program and TrendMicro showed that port.
Thinking maybe AV is blocking, will try again with it turned off/allowed.
Re the crashing, the browser would time out for the IP address, then I would get the pop up error report; after report completed, UVR program shut down.
This is old XP desktop that I'm currently working on, if that makes a diff. RG is Ethernet directly to it.

Sounds like a firewall issue. Try a different port.

TrendMicro allowed UVRT, duh, I did that! Poked around in there and it was showing all ports allowed for UVRT.
I edited TM to Port 80. Then started UVRT up again and got a warning (usual) from TM that something changed with UVRT; and the TM message showed Port 443 with an IP 76.238.xxx.xx
On another note, I discovered that running MediaShare on 3 TVs at once also shows up as off (didn't see that in your ReadMe, not that it matters, just an observation). ![]()
Noticed this AM that the Kitchen STB (coax) was showing 96 instead of 112. Dawned on me that one of the cats was on the desk earlier, went and checked coax, one feeding from wall to STB was very loose; tightened it (all 4 ends, in fact), then the PHY was back to 112!
No coax streams showing today, maybe they'll make an appearance later. ![]()
Will keep working on the Web Server issue, there's something I've overlooked.

Is there anyone out there that is using the web server built into UVRT 1.5.0.0?
I haven't received any feedback from anyone on this new feature. This feature was requested by several people, I figured by now that I'd have some people running it, but I haven't heard anything.
It is working, yes?
I know there are a few people who have had an issue where the program crashes when trying to start the web server ... this is because something else on your computer is already using the selected port number. I'll have to put some code in to prevent trying to start the web server on a port that's already in use. In the meantime, just choose a different port number ... try 8080 if you run into this problem.

I'm still getting crashes; have tried on the Win 7 laptop and old XP desktop with the same result.
Think I specified before, the INSIDE URL works on the computer, nothing for the OUTSIDE URL.
AV has allowed your App and the appropriate ports, so I'm puzzled.
My guess is something isn't right in the RG for my Firewall settings.
BTW--your program is SO SMART!!! Was just recording a program, then started watching while recording, and it showed both actions for that one channel.
--Regarding the coax boxes not showing up, they do show up on the Win 7 laptop (running Wireless, BTW), but sporadically on the XP desktop (Ethernet direct to RG). Weird! Think you were asking for feedback about Wireless earlier?

Spd, this doesn't tell me much.
There is a difference between a crash and a URL that doesn't work. Are you using both of these phrases to describe the same problem, or are you talking about two different problems?
A crash means that the program quits and disappears, maybe with an error message, maybe without one. Which is it? And WHEN does it happen? When you click the URL? When you start the web server? When you stop the web server?
If the inside URL works, then the web server is running properly. If the outside URL doesn't work at that point, that's a firewall/config issue with the RG. Have you followed the directions for configuring the firewall? They're listed in detail on page 23 of the ReadMe.pdf file (Start -> Programs -> U-Verse Realtime -> ReadMe).
A URL that "doesn't work" can mean many different things. Does the page pull up an HTTP error, like a 404 (file not found)? Does it just say "web server can't be reached"? Does it just attempt to load forever and not say anything?
I need you to be more specific so that I can get a feel for what's going on. I have thousands of lines of code in this program and I have to narrow down where to look if I'm going to fix something.

This is what I get after typing a password, checking the Run Embedded Web Server. Asking for a solution finds none and your program closes, have to reopen it.
Changing to Port 8080 gave me this (haven't seen before):
Allowed your program through Win Firewall, Outside URL shows below; and message in tab was PROBLEM LOADING PAGE.
Came back later, and password prompt was now showing; entered password, now Progress Bar says Transferring Data From 198.xxx.xxx.xx

Inside URL is not working now, keeps looking for the IP address in Status Bar.
Tab shows U-verseRealtime, loading icon spinning.
This was Firefox 3.6.8 using Wireless on Win 7.
Do those screenshots help?
Give me a sec. and I'll try that again, same machine, but with IE8.

This is with IE8/Win 7/Wireless, Port 8080.
Inside URL works perfect and comes up fast:
This is for Outside URL:
And I am connected to Wireless just fine, seems to be the server having connection issues?
Hope this helps, holler back if you want screen shots for both browsers, but with XP Pro. ![]()

OK. The crash you described first is due to using port 80. Something else on your computer is also using port 80, so you'll have to avoid that one. Port 8080 should be fine.
Second window from Windows Firewall you need to allow U-Verse Realtime to communicate on all networks (public and private).
Once those two things are done, inside URL should work perfectly, should come up fast.
After that, you then need to allow port 8080 through your RG's firewall as described on page 23 of the docs. Once that's done, then outside URL will work from both inside and outside your network.
OK, so for the next version I need to focus on checking the existing ports that are in use on the machine to get rid of the crash. Might also change the default port to something that's less likely to be used.

I thought about setting up the imbeded web server, but I decided that I was tired enough of having to restart my MRTG command window everytime my PC gets rebooted, I'm not ready to have to log in and start another application or else be frustrated that it doesn't work.
I hate to bring this up, but have you considered either implementing this functionality as a Windows Service, or breaking this out to an ASPX page for those of us who don't mind installing IIS?
I guess I could set up a server machine and hide it in a closet to run this sort of thing, but as it is I'm trying to run it on a Win7 desktop that I share with the other members of my family who occasionally make it lock up and reboot it. (Oh, no, I'd never do that myself).

You're basically talking about rewriting the entire application. ![]()
I would have to move all data-collection, logging, etc. into one service, and the web server into another. Then there has to be a desktop app that shows the user interface, that allows configuration and start/stop of the service.
Yes, I could do it and I know how (I've written windows services before), but it would be a major undertaking.
ASPX is equivalently difficult because all that does is move the user interface. Data collection still has to be in a service for that to work.
At this time, I don't have plans for this. I had no intention of this app becoming something that was enterprise-level.
I will say that if I did this, it would not be freeware. A service-based version of this app is something I would have to charge for and license. Now, if there's enough interest for that, then maybe.

OK, SJ...worked on this through early this AM.
I went into TM AV and disallowed UVRT/deleted it so I could start again.
So, when I started UVRT again, TM popped up with its warning, I allowed; but it was showing UVRT on Port 49559.
Have the RG set to 8080, so I don't know where TM is getting that Port; any ideas?
If I get time, I will remove UVRT from TMs allow list and try unistalling TM instead of just disabling. I have Windows Firewall off during these tests.

Something that's happening here, but only with Wireless...UVRT will be frozen and cannot be closed (except using Task Manager).
If I close laptop lid, come back later, apparently losing sync/connection causes it. Or there's something else wrong at my UFO crib.
I allow Wireless to be turned off the save power.
This is probably normal and you know about it already, the Win Pcap/MS .Net Framework.
Never mind, found the answer in one of your other posts. ![]()

Oh, yeah, I do understand. I hadn't thought the ASP.NET architecture through far enough when I posted, but yeah, you're obviously still talking a service to collect the data, and then set up some mechanism to provide the data to the web UI.
I agree that the market support just isn't out here to justify it. If I decide I want it bad enough, I'll just do it myself.

TM might be reporting the source port for outbound.
When UVRT starts up, the first thing it does after gathering statistics for the first time is report line statistics to my database server. It will open a connection to my server on destination port 443. The source port on your computer is randomly chosen, so it could conceivably have been 49559.

To SomeJoe7777,
I like the ability to save the screen shots and I had a need the other day to do a before and after type thing, but I almost overwrote the the before with the after.
Would it be possible to make the date/time as part of the default file name?
Thanks
Don
