Thanks sj7777. I knew my stats were good, I'm just not that good at reading the bitloading graph yet. Everyone I know (in the service area) has UV and they call me for tech support.

I have followed the steps contained for capturing usage data for Case 3. However, know that I have done that I cannot get any Channel/Streams. I went into DD-WRT and unchecked filter multicast on the off-chance that was the problem. Is there a way to get the Channel/Streams when using Case 3?

You can, but it will require some odd configurations. There's two ways to do it:
1. If you have a smart switch (manageable), you can configure the Ethernet port on the switch that your computer is connected to to be the "mirror" port for one of the ports that is also connected to the RG. Example:
Currently, you have:
RG -> WAN port of DD-WRT router
LAN port of DD-WRT router -> computer
Insert a smart switch:
RG -> WAN port of DD-WRT router
RG -> Smart switch port 1, on VLAN 1
LAN port of DD-WRT router -> smart switch port 2, on VLAN 2
Smart switch port 3, on VLAN 2 -> computer
Now configure the smart switch to mirror port 1's traffic onto port 3. Port 3 will now see all traffic from port 1, which is the RG, but no traffic from the computer will flow to port 1 since it's on a different VLAN. This will enable the computer, running UV Realtime, to see all the multicast packets on the RG's network while the computer itself is still on the DD-WRT router's network.
2. Another way to do it is to put a 2nd network card in the computer and connect it to the RG. Configure this 2nd network card with a static IP address in the range of the RG's network, but leave the default gateway blank.
Now configure UV Realtime to use the 2nd network card as the card where Channels/Streams data is gathered.

Hey, SJ I moved UV Realtime over to my Home Automation System (24/7). This System will reboot automatically if need. UV Realtime comes up with the splash screen and your video. I have to answer the Y/N question before it finishes booting. Is there anyway to bypass the splash screen and video question?

I am trying to see how my all coax setup is performing, since I just moved a STB.
Any relationship between these 2 things:
UV Realtime says No Coax/HPNA devices Found.
RG Page C_2_5
shows 0 stats (bytes, frames, etc.) for all of the remotes (STB's) of which I have 8
This is exactly what the bottom of that page looks like:
Data Collection Time: 2011/06/28 10:41:55 EDT
HPNA Multicast Rate (Mbps): 0
Destination Source PHY Rate (Mbps) Signal to Noise Ratio (dB) Pre-LARQ PER (%)
Station ID Mac Addr. Station ID Mac Addr.
BTW, this is the device:
3800HGV-B
Hardware Version 2700-100531-006
Software Version 6.1.9.24-enh.tm

You can try to reboot the RG, and also check your coax system carefully to make sure all connectors are tight.
If that doesn't work, you may need to factory reset the RG. Be aware that you will lose all RG configuration if you do that, so write down any firewall settings or custom wireless and IP settings you have before you reset it.

Reboot --> same, no HPNA stats
Disconnected ALL devices except DVR --> ditto
Tightened all connectors --> ditto
Factory Reset (ugh) --> Still nothing
I wonder if the latest update has removed that feature from the 3800's?

Why is my Downstream Power Level so low and should I be experiencing any problems?
My downstream power is 3.1. It used to be 7.1. According to Realtime documents, the power level should be 13.5-14.0 db. My estimated distance from the VRAD is 300 ft. but it is actually closer to 75ft. Am I one of those people who is “too close” to the VRAD?
Should this low power level cause problems? The only problem I ever have is intermittent, wild swings in my wireless download speed. I have used inSSIDer to adjust my channel number which has helped somewhat. My wireless RSSI always seem low. Down the hall from the RG (41ft) inSSIDer always shows -59 to -69. Right next to the RG, the strength varies from -10 to -19.
We subscribe to UVerse TV and internet only and have no other wireless devices except our cordless phones (900 MHz and 5.6GHz).

If you're talking about the high amount of upload relative to download, that can be caused by a few things:
• Online backup programs (Carbonite, Mozy)
• Bittorrent running in the background and people downloading from you
• Misconfigured network such that you do not have all internet-using devices routed through a single interface on the router (in your case, Ethernet 1). Make sure you have set up your network in accordance with one of the recommended designed in the user manual starting on page 21.
If you're talking about the large area of upload traffic in the graph, this can be caused by not running UV Realtime 24/7. From your graph, it looks like you started UV Realtime up around 9:00 AM Friday. Prior to that, it had not been running for upwards of 24 hours. When that situation occurs, UV Realtime takes a new set of readings from the counters in the router when it first starts up, and subtracts the last known readings to determine how much data has been used since the last time UV Realtime was running. However, it doesn't know WHEN that data was used during the period when it was down, so when it creates the graph, it just averages it over the entire period. This makes it look like there was a large block of time where there was data transfer, when in reality it may have been a much shorter block of time.

Yes, i was talking about the solid graph. It is too uniform to be normal. It's gotta be from having UV shutdown for a while. I did not realize that the graph would "max out" when it started back up. I don't do bittorrents or online backups.
Thanx!

I had Uverse installed on Tuesday, I've had techs here Friday, Saturday and am waiting on one now. My TV streams are bleeding my internet availability to nothing. The email support guy (Andy) says I have high AM intereference, so I looked into it, found the UV Realtime and looked at it's graphs. It does appear to me that there is a band in the 3.8-4.4 range and since I am on the new i3182 it doesn't seem like it should be. I don't know much about all this stuff, but I do know that I am frustrated beyond all belief. Does anyone have any suggestions for Tech number 4 to look into?

It looks to me like there's interference in the 0.3-1.1 MHz range. Further, at least one of the lines seems like it has a problem due to the low downstream power level.
You should contact tier 2 and have them send a senior tech that can look for and eliminate these sources of interference. Possible sources include:
* Power line interference, such as:
* Fluorescent light ballasts
* High-intensity gas discharge lights like mercury vapor
* Grounding problems, such as improper ground at the NID, the pedestal, etc.
* Electrical system grounding problems, such as improper ground on the RG's outlet, the breaker panel, etc.
* HAM radio broadcasts in the HF band
* AM radio transmissions, such as a nearby radio station
Try to isolate any potential source of these problems and see if you can find one that eliminates the interference.
You may also have the tech look for a bridge tap on each line. A bridge tap is an extra length of wire attached to your pair that doesn't terminate anywhere. It is usually left over from a previous customer that used your pair. Bridge taps cause problems with xDSL services.
You should call technical support, have them send a premises tech to your house to check the line. He should open a helper ticket with the Installation and Maintenance group (I&M), which are the linesmen, to come find and remove the bridge tap.
If you have continuing issues that you want to discuss here on this forum, please start a new thread in the Equipment/Residential Gateway forum. This thread is for issues related to the UV Realtime program only, not line problems.

I am using the latest (paid) version, and having an issue I haven't seen before.
The Channels/Streams tab is blank unless I manually change the Network Adaper in the dropdown (Config. tab, Additional Settings).
It is defaulting to the Realtek, and I have to change it to the MS one in order to get the Channels/Streams to show up.
Enable Gathering is checked, but it is switching adapters on me.
No longer seeing my HPNA devices, but understand that is already a known issue since Phase 3.
Any ideas? Thanks.
edit--forgot to add this is Wi-Fi on the laptop

We are fixed (or appear to be). Wiring swapped between us and the VRAD and ground moved from digital electric meter (that was what caused the interference) to the actual grounding wire.

spd,
UVRT populates the network interface pull-down menu when it first starts up. It saves your selection when you shut down the program, and attempts to restore that selection when you start it back up.
However, if the number of interfaces has changed the next time UVRT starts up, it cannot restore your saved selection, and will instead default to the first selection on the list.
I suspect that you're selecting a wireless interface and that's getting saved when you shut down. But if you disable your wireless interface and start UVRT back up, then the wireless interface is gone from the pull-down, and it can't restore that selection. In that case, it defaults to the first adapter, which is your wired adapter.

Thanks for taking a look.
I just don't recall having to do this manually before, and yes, still a problem with my laptop's WiFi and not keeping the password/network if I lose power or shut down. At least now I know what to do when that screen doesn't populate. ![]()
Anything we can do to get our HPNA info to appear? What happened in the RG with Phase 3 that caused this, and why?

Upgraded a few days ago to version 1.8.0.0. Now it will not open. Tthe first screen comes up and just sits there. Have to use control/alt/delete to get rid of it. Is it just me?
