The only problem I've noticed is that when the RG's upload bandwidth is saturated, the RG takes a long time to respond to the HTTP requests. This isn't a problem with UVRT, this is poor coding in the RG firmware.

Any plans to make this work with the NVG510? I know everyone that I know in SW Missouri has the NVG510 and not an option to get anything else. Just wondering, looks like and awesome program.

1. I do not have nor do I have access to an NVG510, therefore there is no good way for me to build the proper data gathering routines or troubleshoot them.
2. The NVG510 gives less technical data in its readouts than the 2Wire equipment does, so several functions of the program would not be able to work.

Sweet, thanks for the info, at this point in time, I would almost be willing to send you mine, after all I have read and the problems with it, I don't understand why AT&T thinks it's the one we need, and like they don't have access to the same forums we do??? hmmm ;( sad....
Thanks

While installing the latest version of UV Realtime the install of RRDtool fails.
Below are the error messages I received.
Please resolve the following:
A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.
and
Component Visual C++ 2010 Runtime Libraries (x86) has failed to install with the following error message: "Asia"
The following components failed to install: - Visual C++ 2010 Runtime Libraries (x86)
See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD9A60.tmp\insta
Otherwise a very cool application.
Thanks,
Bob

medicrcr,
Can you please do the following:
1. Go to Programs and Features and scroll down to the entry for "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable". Please tell me what version(s) you have installed.
2. If you have a version other than 10.0.30319 or 10.0.40219, open regedit.
Open the following key:
(x86 machines): HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
(x64 machines): HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\
Click on the "Uninstall" folder, which will then be highlighted.
Go to the Edit Menu, select "Find". Type in the word "Redistributable" and click Find Next.
Once it is found, look on the right under the "Display Name" REG_SZ entry to be sure you have the right component. The Display Name should say "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable - 10.0.xxxxx" where the x's are the build number. If the Display Name is for another component, hit F3 to find the next instance of the word "Redistributable" until you find it.
Once you've found it, I need the name of the folder that it's in, which is usually a GUID (long hexidecimal number). The GUID is also shown on the right as part of the "UninstallString".
The deal is that Microsoft does not make all versions of the Visual C++ 2010 x86 redistributable available for packaging in an installer. I can only distribute the 10.0.30319 version with UVRT. On top of that, Microsoft's installer for that package fails to detect later versions and exit gracefully, so you get the error if you have a later version installed.
If I have the GUIDs of any later versions I can program the installer to skip the installation, avoiding the error.

Dan,
I have used UV Realtime v1.9.1.0 in the past when I had a 3800HGV. I now have a 3801HGV running software version 6.3.7.50-enh.tm, but I can't get UV Realtime past the "gathering statistics" status. My OS is Win XP. I read in the manual that the software would time out if it couldn't connect and allow for "automatic" connect check mark to be toggled.
I have also read your post stating that it can have difficults connecting if the upload bandwidth is being utilized and web request to the modem won't complete. While I have used bittorrent before, I don't currently have it running while trying to connect UV Realtime and still am unsuccessful. I also have Netflix streaming, but assume that may maximize the download bandwidth as opposed to the upload bandwidth.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Also is there a way that you can enhance UV Realtime to not only track the Internet data usage, but also track the actual traffic, such as http/https request and the likes? Right now the RG doesn't display this detail in the firewall or other logs, and there doesn't seem to be a good way of gathering the info without resorting to the reports from AT&T parental controls.
Thanks in advance for any troubleshooting you can lend to this.

ampm_25,
Please try to bring up the following pages from your RG:
http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_1_0
http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_0
http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_5_3
http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_0_0
http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_5
If you cannot bring up all of these pages, there is something wrong with your RG. You might want to try to factory reset it to correct this problem.

OK, thanks.
In the next version I may try a different method to detect if VC++ 2010 x86 is installed, and hopefully this will correct this issue.

Dan,
I should have noted in my first post that I can access all web pages on my RG currently. I also did an RG reboot, just in case that would clear up anything as my device had been up for 55 days. I have rechecked the links provided by you and confirmed that I still can access them.
Also, to note, my RG doesn't use the default IP address range, but assume that isn't a problem as the UV Realtime sees the proper IP address in its field.
What I have also noticed is that the Usage tab does have some information listed in it, but am not sure if that is cached info. I had the "Channels/Streams Gathering" disabled, but upon enabling it, I saw a little information reflected on the "Channels/Streams" tab. I, then, played with the Usage configuration area to see if it reflected a change with a change in date, along with the router interface chosen. I also enabled the "web server" feature under the configuration tab.
While messing around with these features, little change was noticed, but again, I did see some internet usage listed on Usage tab, along with after checking the "Enable Gathering STB Channel/Stream Data", I did have my STB's listed. This confirmed for me that the UV Realtime was talking some.
I then got an application error from UV Realtime, which I emailed to you, today at approx. 3:40pm after adjusting the date for internet usage and trying to see the information reflected on the web interface. After restarting the application, the UV Realtime said it was connected and shows all information.
Not sure what the problem is, but a series of tinkering seems to kick start the app into working.
Now my new question is regarding a possible software enhancement for web traffic detail. Any information or suggestion on the best way to gather this information? Maybe, this could be the premium feature, in which I would gladly pay a lifetime subscription for. I can't believe that I just offered to pay for a feature enhancement.!
I assume that this may be easily accomplished by taking advantage of WinPcap, which you already use to filter into a web traffic reporting tab, or something to that affect.

OK, I can't really tell from your post whether you actually fixed it or whether it's still giving you problems.
If indeed it's still having issues, you may have some config data that has become corrupted. I would recommend the following:
1. Uninstall UV Realtime, RRDTool, WinPCap.
2. Follow the instructions on page 4 of the Main Documentation PDF under the "Manual Uninstallation" section. This will tell you the folders and preference files to delete to make sure that all settings from the previous installation are removed.
If you need a copy of the documentation, it is available here:
http://www.uvrealtime.com/dl/UVRT-Main-Doc.pdf
After that, reinstall UV Realtime (which will reinstall RRDTool and WinPCap) and see if the program works properly after that.
As far as web logging, the program would not be capable of that. Web transactions are unicast, not multicast, so the web traffic does not necessarily come to the computer running UV Realtime. Because of that, I can't snoop and log it, even with WinPCap.
There are other applications that work much better for the web logging or web filtering tasks.

Dan,
Sorry for the confusing banter, in a nutshell, after a lot of tinkering, the program is responding positvely and is staying connected.
Also thanks for the explanation regarding why UV Realtime can't capture the unicast web traffic. Could you please suggest some of the other apps that can do the web logging or web filtering? The only one that comes to mind is wireshark, but I wasn't sure if that was too much for the job and also realizing that wireshark would have to be open the entire time along with a port mirrored or span port on my home network for it to work right, if I understand the program correctly.

Some 3rd-party routers have web filtering built in as part of their parental controls; I believe the Linksys E4200 has these features. However, I don't know how much (if any) logging it will do.

From the documentation, page 39:
UV Realtime Main Documentation wrote:
This interface should be a wired Ethernet connection. Some wireless connections will work, this depends on whether then can emulate an Ethernet card in promiscuous mode. Operation with wireless network cards is not guaranteed.
In other words, your wireless card does not support promiscuous mode, therefore cannot be used for the Channels/Streams function.

I have the following:
1 week old Uverse customer.
Bonded pair iNID i3812V installation with the 25/2 service.
Wired according to example 2B in the UVRT manual.
All 3 STB are COAX
2nd WAP is a Dlink DIR-655, in use for 5 years and going strong.
Purchased the Advanced Usage Meter
I am not seeing any usage on the meter.

Is your DLink DIR-655 plugged into the i38HG unit or is there a dedicated Ethernet cable that has been run out to the i3812V unit (the iNID outside)?
If there is a dedicated Ethernet connection, you should have the "Router Interface Used for Internet" set to Ethernet 1. If it's plugged into the i38HG, you should have it set to the "HPNA Twisted Pair Interface".

That did it. Sorry. Love the program.
However, Non-Plused with Uverse as yet. Too many framing losses/resets/uncorrectable blocks etc. To their credit they are still working and are being responsive. UVRT shows us 3300 ft from the VRAD. Our two lines are less than 100 feet difference in length. FIrst they found a tap in the line, then a bad port on the VRAD, then the iNID was shorted or something and got so hot the tech couldnt touch it when he was swapping it out.
I do have a question abou the 2WIRE WAP. Has anybody successfully used it in conjunction with their own WAP to increase coverage? I tried setting the SSID identical to my home WAP, along with the password, set the channels to 1 and 6. BUt I could not successfully get anydevices to acquire the 2WIRE WAP. My WAP is connected 2WIRE port #1 to LAN port #1 on my WAP via cat 6 cable. Any help there would be great. Im just trying to extend wireless to the basement where ATT put the 2WIRE WAP.
Thanks again for the program.

Hi Dan
New UVerse user and just joined this board...I have downloaded your most excellent UV Realtime application, I will be donating !
I have one question on the Profile Selections inside the Config Tab...my IPTV setup displays (on the TV) WAN and Ingress at 4SD / 3HD...that is not one of the options contained in the pull-down. Is there another option that will produce the correct output ? Is that something I can code in real quick ? Is this an new setup you were not informed of yet, so that you have to do some coding ? Any idea when this might be ready (no rush, just asking) ?
Also I will be sending some screen shots to this board as well....I have 8.5 db upstream power (no error there it is + 8.5...)...and an interesting bitloading display...almost forgot to mention I am an iNID install with an i38HG and i3812V...Thanks Bill

Count me as the third.
i3812V iNID
Bonded Pair
25/2 profile
WAN 4SD/3HD
Ingress 4SD/3HD
Egress 0SD/3HD
I just assumed the bandwidth would support upto 4 Standard Def and 3 Max High Def since I only have 3 HD TVs and STB.

Hi Bill and ber,
Please do the following for me:
1. Please post screenshots of IP/Profile, Bitloading, and Error Table tabs.
2. Please set up your system such that 4SD and 3HD streams are in use. (Example: On the DVR, set the following 7 channels to record simultaneously: 108, 120, 202, 203, and 1120, 1202, 1203). Don't worry about what programs are on -- you can delete all of the partially-recorded programs later.
3. Start up UV Realtime. Verify that all 7 channel streams appear on the Channels/Streams tab. Wait approximately 5 minutes (Important -- do not skip!)
4. Save and post screenshots of the IP/Profile, Interfaces and Channels/Streams tabs.
I'm having you do this because I would like to see some of the readings under this full-load condition.
