You have a lot of line issues still, mostly with interference in the lower part of the spectrum.
You should contact tier 2 and have them send a senior tech that can look for and eliminate these sources of interference. Possible sources include:
* Power line interference, such as:
* Fluorescent light ballasts
* High-intensity gas discharge lights like mercury vapor
* Grounding problems, such as improper ground at the NID, the pedestal, etc.
* Electrical system grounding problems, such as improper ground on the RG's outlet, the breaker panel, etc.
* HAM radio broadcasts in the HF band
* AM radio transmissions, such as a nearby radio station
Try to isolate any potential source of these problems and see if you can find one that eliminates the interference.
Also, if you have further issues, please start a new thread in the Equipment forum, this thread is for issues related to the UVRT program itself.

Very interesting. Tier 2 told me they were sending out a lineman again today because they noticed some other issues.
I can actually think of some possible problems based on the list in your post. I'll check it out. What's weird is that my service was fine for about a year and I haven't made any related changes for at least 6 months. I DO have a flourescent light on the fritz so I may check that out... the problem still occurs while that light circuit is not energized though.
If Tier 2's efforts today didn't fix it I will ask them to follow your recommendation. Thanks!

I assume you are referring to the new RG? I only got that because the first tech on the phone was certain that it was the RG's fault I was having poor service. The service was bad a month before that.
Anyway, the 2nd line tech that came out immediately determined that it was something to do with the electrical component that the wires connect to inside the box on the side of my house. Sorry I have no idea what the technical term is, but he replaced that with a new style one and everything is back to normal. If anyone can provide the technical term for that, it might help other people with the same problem

Try installing the Windows Installer 4.5 separately.
The download link is: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?
The one you want is the 2nd one, labeled "Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu".
If that successfully installs, then try the UVRT installation again. If it doesn't, you'll have to see what's wrong with your Windows Vista 64 installation that's preventing it from installing (anti-virus, perhaps?)

Would you mind commenting on my bitload profile? While my error rate seems reasonable and our service is usually pretty good, this looks very strange to me.

Is this a variation on normal, or is something really weird with my line?
The only trouble shooting I have done so far is to shut off and disconnect every other electrical device in the same room as the modem, but that made no difference.

Please start a new thread in the Residential Gateway forum and post your UV Realtime screenshots there (IP/Profile, Error Table, Bitloading, and Coax/HPNA).

Dan, have some quesiton on UVRealtime,
I have a 3812 an am wonering why the corrected blocks only show on one line? Shouldn't this be a summation of both lines 1 and 2?
It would be nice to see each line on the front page. I found this out by accident while looking through the parameters directly from the 3812 and found out that i indeed do have a bad line that did not show up on UVRealtime!! My corrected blocks were throught the roof on line 2, but didn't show up.
BTW i love the program and thanks for you help and support.

I also can not close it and have to kill the process. Anyone have ideas ? I checked the threads and I didn't find anything related. Did I miss something ?

You have a 2Wire 2701 router, which indicates you are on ADSL, not VDSL. As a result, UV Realtime is not compatible with your installation.
Instead of the program crash, I will be fixing bugs of this type in future releases so that a graceful error message is shown instead.

Hi,
Kind of a weird problem here. UV Realtime says I have a 19/2 profile, but that I should have a 25/2 profile. I actually called ATT about this, asking why I shouldn't have a 25/2 profile. Long story short: I do have 25/2 (checked the system options on the TV). It must have upgraded itself sometime in the last few months. (Silently, of course!)
But UV Realtime still shows 19/2. What does this mean? I have changed the Configuration options to WAN 2SD/2HD, etc. But no change in the UV Realtime display. Does that mean that my RG is screwed up? Or is there a software problem?
Thanks for any help.
Martin

Based on the information that you posted, it appears that you are on the 19/2 profile. The 25/2 profile would show the WAN as 1 SD/3 HD.
The UVRT tool gets the information on your profile from the RG itself. You can see the information in the RG using the following link: http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_1_0
Contact David who is an AT&T employee in Tier 2 Technical Support.

Thanks for that. My RG does show 19/2. However (see photo), I am now getting 2SD / 2HD according to my STB. This used to be 3SD / 1HD, and that's what I understood you always got with a 19/2 profile. Has that changed somehow? What are the limits to what you can get with 19/2?
Regardless of all the above, UVRT is telling me consistently that I should qualify for 25/2. What's the most effective way to make that happen? I spent 30 mins + on the phone today without success.
TIA, once more!
Martin

The current WAN Profiles are as follows for the line profiles:
32/5: 0 SD/ 4 HD
25/2: 1 SD/3 HD
19/2: 2 SD/2 HD
The 19/2 profile used to have a WAN Profile of 3 SD/ 1 HD. About a year ago, an extra HD stream was added to each of the line profile.
You are on the 19/2 line profile. Since you were not able to have it changed by calling Technical Support, contact David using the link in my previous message.

Those are the video capabilities of the profiles. What are the Internet speeds supported by the various profiles? I have 19/2, but may qualify for 25/2. My maximum Internet service is currently 12 Mb/s.
Thanks!

I have been working on getting a v1.9.0.0 release of UV Realtime ready. So far, the following changes have made it into the program:
• Fix egress stream count for Phase 3 THDVR
• Fix RRDTool launch and error message problem if RRDTool is not installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\RRDTool on 64-bit machines
• Fix IP Geolocation - now using callback to web service for Geolocation data
• Fix Coax/HPNA detection for 3800HGV-B new firmware
• Fix DVR free space calculation to be consistent with TV2 client 2.1.2295.10 (0%=Full, 90%=Empty)
• Fix STBNames.txt saved in wrong directory if STB is renamed after a screenshot has been taken
• Allow user to manually specify path to RRDTool if it isn't installed in standard location
• Add error/crash reporting to report crashes to my server for analysis
Also scheduled to go into this version (but not done yet):
• Add error table aggregate stats for i3812V
• Add option to automatically start with Windows, and optionally start minimized
• Gracefully handle some error conditions (like running UV Realtime on a non-supported 2Wire model, e.g. 2701HGV)
• Other misc changes
If anyone has any bugs that you've seen that haven't been reported anywhere, please post them here so that I can take a look at them.

Is there already an Auto Renewal feature built in for the paying customers? I haven't reached my date yet, so just curious.
Forgetful sometimes, I am.

I discovered a bug in UV Realtime v1.8.0.0 this morning that is associated with the premium usage meter. For certain combinations of settings, it is causing the application to crash on startup.
If this issue is affecting you, there is a work-around posted on the new support page on the UV Realtime web site. Please see the following page for the work-around:
http://www.uvrealtime.com/support.aspx
This bug will be corrected in the next release.

UV Realtime v1.9.0.0 is released.
The program (.exe installer) may be downloaded from the UV Realtime web site.
If you have already installed v1.8.0.0, you can install this version on top of it and it will upgrade, or you can use the built-in auto-updater.
Important: v1.7.0.0 and earlier cannot auto-update to v1.9.0.0. Please manually download and install v1.8.0.0 from the UV Realtime web site. v1.8.0.0 can then auto-update to v1.9.0.0.
UV Realtime is a standalone program for PC computers that can retrieve information from a typical residential installation of the AT&T U-Verse® IPTV/VOIP/Internet system. Some of the information displayed consists of VDSL line analysis, network interface data rates, DVR information, STB channel and stream information, and Internet usage information. This program requires that your U-Verse® Residential Gateway (the 2Wire 3800HGV-B, 3801HGV, 3600HGV, or i3812V) be running firmware version 6.3.7.37 or higher only. Previous versions will not work with this program.
Fixes and New Features
- Fix egress stream count for Phase 3 THDVR
- Fix installer to require/pre-install Windows Installer 4.5
- Fix bug with cmd-line tool launch -- C:\Program Files vs. C:\Program Files (x86) (affects RRDTool)
- Fix IP geolocation - Now using web service call to determine location vice InfoSniper.net
- Fix Coax/HPNA for 3800HGV-B new firmware
- Fix free space calculation to be consistent with Phase 3 THDVR / TV2 Client 2.1.2295.10
- Fix STBNames.txt gets saved into screenshot folder if STB is renamed after a screenshot is saved
- Fix web interface to be full-screen on mobile browser
- Fix date/time bug with premium usage meter -- program crashes if set to Billing Cycle metering mode and current month is January
- Fix grammatical error (missing space) in RRDTool warning dialog
- Fix program crash when run on unsupported 2Wire models (e.g. 2701HGV)
- Fix issue with installer not properly detecting certain versions of Visual C++ 10.0 x86 runtime already installed on the machine (installer now properly detects 10.0.30319 and 10.0.40219 and will not issue error message)
- Change channel submission code to now submit channels with channel number discrepancies in addition to new channels
- Change screenshot save routines to save only form contents, not form and border, add UVRealtime.com URL to top of saved graphics
- The user can now manually specify the RRDtool executable path so that it can be installed in a non-standard location
- Program now displays QR Code for inside or outside URL to web server so mobile phone can easily bring up the web site
- Internal change so that premium features can only be activated by an appropriate version of the program
- For re-activation of 1-year subscriptions to the premium usage meter, the purchase will now add time onto the end of the existing term (i.e. if the feature is not yet expired, purchasing another 1-year subscription adds 1 year onto the existing expiration date)
- Program now auto-reports crashes/errors to central server
- Change copyright dates to 2010-2012 on web site, documentation, and several other locations
- Add Start with Windows option / Start minimized
- Add error table aggregate statistics for i3812V
- Add in-app messaging engine to display messages to the user in the main window
- Author video is now played as an in-app message using HTML/Flash instead of separate window with Windows Media Player
- What's New now displayed as an in-app message using HTML instead of separate window
- Add Flowplayer links, copyrights, and licensing to licensing window and documentation
- Add ThoughtWorks QR Code library links, copyrights, and licensing to licensing window and documentation
- Remove author video from installer
- Remove all dependencies on Windows Media Player from installer and project
A few additional notes regarding this version:
- This is a 2-stage update. Your installation of UV Realtime v1.8.0.0 will first download an update to v1.8.1.0. This minor patch fixes a bug in the uninstaller. After v1.8.1.0 is installed and running, it will then download and update to v1.9.0.0.
- v1.7.0.0 and earlier cannot auto-update to v1.9.0.0. Please manually download and install v1.8.0.0 from the UV Realtime web site. v1.8.0.0 can then auto-update to v1.9.0.0.
- Make SURE to review network connection diagrams on page 21 of the Main Documentation -- "Architecting your Network for the Usage Meter" if you plan to use the usage meter. If you don't connect the network as shown in one of the examples, the usage meter is not accurate.
As always, please post here with any comments or bugs.

I changed the provider of the IP Geolocation service in this version. The previous provider frequently changed their API, which broke the detection in a lot of cases.
This new one will be stable because it goes through a known service where the API will not change. The trade-off is that it's less accurate.
That is OK, the geolocation does not need to be spot-on accurate. It only needs to be accurate enough to tell me what designated TV market area (DMA) you are in, and only when your installation submits unknown channels to the database.
In short, there is no way to change the displayed location if it's inaccurate, but you shouldn't worry about it, either.

When I had version 1.8.1.0 it gave me the below message on startup which didn't make sense. So I uninstalled and installed the 1.8.0.0 version from the site and I still get the below message on startup. I don't even see an update for 1.8.1.0 on the site and the program wants to upgrade from 1.8.0.0 to 1.9.0.0.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.
