Please remove UVRT using the Add/Remove control panel (Windows XP) or the Programs and Features control panel (Windows Vista & 7). Once removed, please delete the following folders:

(Windows XP): C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Local Settings\_Dan_Wilson\UV_Realtime.exe_xxxxxx
(Windows Vista/7): C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Dan_Wilson\UV_Re
(Windows XP): C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\UV Realtime
(Windows Vista/7): C:\ProgramData\UV Realtime
After everything is deleted, please reinstall UV Realtime 1.8.

The new version will not start for me, too. Since the new version was released and installed this is what happens.....
The UV Realtime splash screen appears as well as the "What's New in UV Realime v1.8.9.0
I press OK
Then an error window appears:
"UV Realime has stopped working...Windows is checking for a solution to this problem"
which changes to....
"UV Realime has stopped working....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
My OS is windows 7 Ultimate on a 32bit
I followed the instructions above and reinstalled it two more times to see if that would do the trick. Nada
I did not find a Dan_Wilson folder in the Local folder.
Is there anything that I can do to get this program to run?

OK, first, relax and take a chill pill.
Web servers have hiccups sometimes, too, ya know.
Please try again and see if the software properly runs without error.

Another user had this problem because he installed RRDTool on the D: drive.
If this does not work, post back and we'll continue troubleshooting.

That did not work. RRD is in the correct location.
This time I uninstalled the 3rd party software(WinPCap, RRD, and PCap) along with UVR and did another reinstall.
There is still the same behavior as I described earlier. When I start UVR I get the splash screen, Whats New, and a "ding" sound that either is related to the What's New window or the error that is descirbed after I click OK.
The previous version of UVR worked fine for me.

I've been meaning to post, but I'm getting that same screen and when I'm playing iTunes, the music stops (iTunes doesn't close or crash, just stops).
This is on my Wi-Fi 64-bit laptop, and I haven't noticed this error screen on the Ethernet 32-bit desktop.
Let me know if there's anything else I can check.

rockychai,
OK, let's do the following:
1. Remove UV Realtime using the Programs and Features control panel.
2. Remove RRDTool using the Programs and Features control panel.
3. Remove WinPCap using the Programs and Features control panel.
4. Delete the following folders (you may have to turn on "Show hidden files and folders" to see some of these):
• C:\Program Files\UV Realtime
• C:\Program Files\RRDTool
• C:\ProgramData\UV Realtime
• C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Dan_Wilson\UV_Re
• C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\_UV_Realtime.exe
(You may not find that 4th one if v1.8 has never run properly).
(You may not find the 5th one if you never ran v1.7).
5. Reboot the computer.
6. Install the following prerequisites manually:
Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 Full
Microsoft Visual C++ 10.0 Runtime
7. Reboot the computer
8. Make sure you are logged on to an account with Administrator privileges (this is not necessary to run UVRT, but may be necessary in some situations to install UVRT).
9. Temporarily disable any anti-virus or security software you're running. I have had users in the past have problems with certain AV/security software and UVRT. This is only temporary to attempt to isolate any potential issue, you can turn it back on later.
10. Install the UVRT v1.8.0.0 package. Make sure to install RRDTool into the default directory (C:\Program Files\RRDTool).
11. Run UVRT and see if it properly runs.
12. If so, re-enable your AV/security software and then see if UVRT will properly run.

I had the same problem last night and into this morning. The errors i was showing were the same as posted above When i clicked on the desktop icon it would bring up the first realtime screen, and also put the logo on the task bar at the bottom but would not bring up the realtime screen without clicking the realtime logo down below, i did that work around several times, and finally quit messing with it i went back to it a couple of hours later and it was working properly right from the desktop screen. I have no idea of what caused the problem, unless it had something to do with instalation of explorer 9.

rockychai,
OK, so let me make sure I have the sequence of events correct:
1. You double-click on UVRT
2. You get the splash screen
3. You can a ding and the "What's New" box (might pop up behind other windows)
4. You click OK on the What's New box and the program crashes at that point with the "UV Realtime has stopped working".
If that is correct, please look and see if the following file exists:
C:\ProgramData\UV Realtime\usageDB.rrd
This will help me pinpoint where in the startup process it's crashing.

Start -> Control Panel -> System and Security -> click "View Event Logs" under Administrative Tools
On the left, click Windows Logs, then click Application
Look for an Error with the source as ".Net Runtime" or "Application Error" and click on it. Copy and paste what you see in the "General" tab below.
If you can't find the error, run UV Realtime again to cause it to crash and quit again. Then look again in the Application event log and the error (or errors) should be listed at the very top.

OK, cool, this is good. This tells me that it looks like that RRD tool is having an issue when UVRT attempts to use it.
Let's try this:
1. Go into the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\RRDTool
2. Rename RRDTool.exe to RRDTool.exe.old
After that, try to start UVRT. It may give you a warning that RRDTool is not installed, but that's OK.
See if it runs like that.

Yay! We are up and running just as you described. There was a RRD error messageand I clicked OK then it started up normally.
The rrdtool application file was in the regular Program Files though and not the Program Files (x86).
thank you very much
)
Now I would like use the UVR information to see if mycurrent profile (1HD/3SD) is upgradable to a 2HD with the new 3801RG that is available.

OK, let me test a few things here and I'll post back tomorrow. I'll give you a few steps so that we can troubleshoot why RRDTool isn't working properly.
In the meantime, all functions of UVRT will work properly without RRDTool except for the usage meter.
To see about your profile, start a new thread in the Residential Gateway subforum on this board, and post screenshots of the IP/Profile, Error Table, and Bitloading tabs and we'll look at them and determine what's going on.

rocky,
OK, I found a small bug in the UVRT application last night that I will be fixing in the next maintenance release. It has to do with how the RRDTool is launched when required.
In the meantime, do the following to restore full functionality:
1. Go back into C:\Program Files\RRDTool
2. Rename RRDTool.exe.old back to RRDTool.exe
3. Move the entire C:\Program Files\RRDTool folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\RRDTool
This will make it such that the shortcuts in the Start Menu for RRDTool no longer work right, but UVRT should now start up without any warning and with full functionality including the usage meter.
I've determined that this bug appears on certain x64 machines when RRDTool gets installed into C:\Program Files instead of C:\Program Files (x86). I will have to check the installer for RRDTool to make sure it always gets installed into the (x86) folder on any 64-bit machine.

Just a thought....It would be handy to have the Uverse box communicate with the UPS and display this in Uverserealtime. This would help analyze any power issues. It would also help show how robust the Uverse box is during power events. The Belkin UPS that was installed with my Uverse does not appear to have an external com/ethernet/usb port. There may be one inside.
BTW howz the mac/linux interface coming ![]()
Thanx for a great tool!!

Hello,
I've been having some uverse connectivity issues. I am already persuing support the the mysterious and wonderful (?) "David" character, since several calls and visits from normal uverse techs have not proved fruitful.
First call got me a new RG, but that didnt fix the problem.
Second call got me a tech and eventually a lineman, who thought he fixed the problem, but I dont see evidence of that.
Tonight I emailed David and also installed UVRT. I am hoping someone can take a look at these screenshots and provide some insight.
