NBC/Universal has no dedicated "Universal Sports Network" channel available like there is for, say, NBC Sports Network. Instead, it is usually offered by the individual NBC affiliates as a "digital subchannel" (e.g. if NBC is channel 4.1, then Universal Sports Network might be 4.2) - and, for whatever reason known only to AT&T, U-Verse will not carry any digital subchannels.

I am under the impression that one of the reasons Versus was renamed "NBC Sports Network" was so they could get rid of Universal Sports Network eventually.

On January 1, 2012, Universal Sports transitioned from being an OTA channel to a cable only channel. Currently, the only major TV providers who have negotiated carriage agreements for this cable channel are DirecTV and Dish Network.

By the way, NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports are two separate channels. NBC Sports Network is owned by NBCUniversal. On the other hand, NBCUniversal has a non-controlling minority interest in Universal Sports.
