Search by Genre
On my previous DISH provider they have a button on the different Genre and it will provide a list of programs sorted based on current availability and channels. This feature allows me to look for a certain program that we do not know what channel to look for.
Although the current Search feature has more capability than others... this is another way to provide additional Uverse feature.
Thanks.

I'm in agreement! The Search capabilities are severly limited and your screwed if you don't know the title or actors name. ATT has to get this fixed.

As silly as it sounds, I believe that TiVo has a patent on many of the types of searches and such.

I've seen the Verizon IMG (Interactive Media Guide, not a big fan of it BTW) and they have the ability to search via categories.
Since the data provider for both Uverse and IMG is the same, it would make sense that the capability is there. I just think this version of Uverse doesn't allow for it.

Could someone explain Program reminders to me? If your favorite program is LOST, shouldn't you already know it airs Thursday nights on ABC? If you have it set up on a series record, it will be listed there as well.

I liked program reminders because if I saw a tv program that was going to air on a night that I normally watched something else or just channel surfed then I like to be reminded when it comes on. It is great for sports as some of our Piston games are broadcast on two different channels. The reminder lets you know that a game is about to begin on the respective channel. I am not interested in recording a game that I can watch live when it airs. And to bottom line it, I liked the feature and I hope it will be implemented in the very near future.

Is AT&T u-verse listening?
I strongly agree with others that a search by genre is a must and how they could have overlooked that feature is beyond me. I have been a customer for about 3 months and even though the picture and sound quality are superior to my former cable provider, I am looking into switching back because of the search features that one would think would be basic.
As a few have already pointed out, the current search feature is great if you know exactly what it is that you are looking for. However before offering 300 or 400+ channels, you would think that consideration would have been given to the fact that viewers sometime just want to know what movies are on or what sporting events are being broadcast without having to scan the entire interactive tv-guide.
P.S. please don't tell me I have to buy ti-vo to get that feature. That simply is not the case.

Would you really consider switching back to a provider that you say has a worse picture and sound quality just so you can search better? I would wait and see what Uverse does to fix the issue before that!! Uverse is still relatively new and I think they are doing good at trying to listen to feedback to implement all the features that everyone asks of them. I mean, there is not perfect provider. Every one I have been with has at least one thing that I don't like...

I agree with all the suggestions previously mentioned, especially the program reminder and searching by genre. Here is another suggestion: If they do not add the ability for multiple customizable channel lists, how about under the options tab for the search feature add Channels to All results, Titles, VOD, and People. At least this way I can search for a specific channel instead of scrolling through all of the channels. I know we have printed channel lists, but I cannot tell you where mine is.
Maybe its under the sofa cushion with the VCR remote I rarely use. ![]()

Wrong. Comcast had the same thing, when you entered search, you were given a choice of genre's, say Spports, then it broke it down to All Sports, or whatever individual Sport you wanted to search. Hopefully UVerse will make the same effort. Also, Comcast had its Guide color coded so you could see all of the different Genre's on the guide.
