Too much money for what you get from Uverse!!
And AT&T has paid millions to FSMW and FSMW wants more money to televise the additional 20 games. FSMW is the one who is in breach of contract. Complain to them as well for being so greedy and not delivering on what was promised under contract.

Fox Sports is in the business of supply and demand, so when they raise their prices, it's because they can. What I find ridiculous is that every other service provider has picked up the cost for 2011, yet the highest priced service provider (AT&T) when compared to Dish or Charter balked at the increase. Here's a nice little article about what is really happening:

While that may be true in most cases, AT&T and FSMW already have a signed carriage agreement in place. FSMW decided to raise the prices while under contract. While other providers have agreed to the price hike, AT&T is standing up to the rediculous price increase that FSMW is pulling. This is not the first time FSMW has done this and Dish network refused to pay more money for Blues hockey games. Of course Comacast is going to pay, then they are going to raise rates for the 2nd or 3rd time in a year.

Very early in this thread (which I started) Texasguy listed the complete list of games to be
blacked out. Didn't keep the list, been keeping track by memory. I believe they have blacked
out 14 games leaving 6 more to go. Is this right?

- July 17 at Cincinnati 12:10 p.m.
- Aug. 7 at Florida 12:10 p.m.

- Sept. 4 Cincinnati 1:15 p.m.

My friends who have Charter haven't complained of increases. And right now (July 10) they're sitting at home watching this game! Hmmmm.....much as I HATE AT&T's service (can I count the ways?), Charter is looking better and better....

Just because they haven't complained doesn't mean that they haven't had increases. Granted Charter tries to limit to 1 per year unlike Comcast who will raise prices several times per year. Having a service other than UVerse where you are under contract for a specific amount of time prevents those increases from showing up for the length of the contract, but BAM when the contract is over, I watched my Direct TV and my TWC bill double when my contract was up.

I switched from Charter last December.
I was told by Uverse that I would get FSMW in HD, now I find it is a limited FSMW.
There are lot's of things I like about Uverse but blacking out Cardinals games is a deal breaker.
If I did not have a one year agreement I would have run back to Charter.
Sunday afternoon blackouts suck.

Nah. I've talked to them about it. They're trying to get me to switch back to Charter. Used to have it. Hated their customer service. They've supposedly improved it - according to friends who stayed with them. And they aren't getting the increase. All I can tell you is what they are telling me. Charter told them they were absorbing it because they'd lose too many customers. AT&T is too arrogant and/or greedy. They figure we'll stay - and complain on this board.
And here we are. Why do they do it? Because we let them. And we still pay. I have several things going that complicate the issue - it's a bit harder than just POOF - change to Charter - or I'd be gone in a heartbeat. I'm working on those other things, though - believe me. AT&T has terrible customer service, terrible cell service, I mean - why stay? (Yeah, I have an iPhone with AT&T, too...sucker that I am! ...working on changing that one, too, when we buy the new phones this fall!)

Charter and the others are "absorbing it" therefore letting other channels pull the same stunts at a later time. Until providers start standing up to broadcasts channels, then this kind of situation is going to continue to occur. What if on of the other stations decided mid contract to raise their rates because one of their shows is now doing better than expected? Who would you agree with? The only people that suffer in any contract dispute are the customers, however, AT&T is not the ones at fault. There was already a signed multi-year carriage agreement in place with FSMW and they have decide to up the rate because of the Cardinals ball games. They pulled the same stunt a few years back with the Blues games. Both of these organizations decided to cancel their OTA broadcasts and go strictly with a cable channel. FSMW picked them up and then wanted more money from the providers. Complain to the Cardinals, complain to FSMW. It's all about the mighty $$$$.

Although today's game is blackedout in St.Louis, it is being shown here on Fox Sports Ohio.
That has never happened before. Someone at Uverse must be asleep at the switch.

You receive Fox Sports Ohio as one of your regional sports networks?

The Reds home broadcast was actually on Fox Sports Indiana (1749) and, for some reason, not blacked out in the St. Louis area.

Oops, my bad. It was Fox Sports Indiana, channel 1749.
The important thing is the game was not blaked out in St. Louis.

to 20 Cards games could be blacked out due to a contract dispute with FSM. FSM is carrying 150 Cards
games this year, that is every game other then those carried by a national network. Therefore FSM is
asking for more money, Uverse doesn't agree. Why does Uverse always go the cheap route?
Obviously Chartercable,, Direct TV and dish are paying the increase. Will not be a happy customer
if this happens.
I am so AGGRAVATED at the 20 or so Cardinal games being blacked out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Cardinals have came back today and are winning 12-5 and I am missing the whole thing.
I am new to AT&T Uverse and don't find it better or cheaper than Directv. If this happens next year, I'm changing back to Directv.
Also, I happened to be at a Retirement center last night, every room I passed had the Cardinals on the TV. These older adults look forward to watching these games daily. They get very confused when the schedule says the Cardinals are playing and they can't find it on Fox Sports Midwest.
DISGUSTED WITH AT&T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today's game IS NOT one of the 20 games in dispute between U-verse and Fox Sports Midwest (FSMW). Today's game was broadcast on your local Fox affiliate. You could have watched it on U-verse or by using an OTA antenna.
Only 3 of the 20 disputed games on FSMW remain:

Today's Cardinals game was on the FOX national broadcast. The entire country got to see it, including St. Louis.
I'm certain that any hard-core Cardinals fan would know what channel they were supposed to be on today.

jloans: The Cardinal game tomorrow (Sunday) is a night game that will be telecast nationwide on ESPN at 7:05 PM St. Louis time. There is no Fox Sports Midwest telecast in the afternoon or evening on any cable provider.

Dan Caesar of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports a change in blacked out games on U-Verse. The Sunday, August 14 game between the Colorado Rockies and the Cardinals was supposed to have been blacked out on U-Verse. However, that game has been changed to a night game on ESPN so it will be seen on U-Verse.
The new blacked out game to substitute for the Sunday game is on Monday, August 15 against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Tonight's game on Fox Sports Midwest against the Pirates is blacked out. Instead of being upset about this, enjoy the evening. Have dinner outside on your patio or deck while enjoying the radio broadcast of Mike Shannon and John Rooney. Work in your yard while listening to the radio. That is what I am planning to do.
Maybe, with a bit of luck, the Pirates telecast on Root Sports will accidentally not get blacked out.
The last blacked out game is Sunday, September 4, at 1:00 PM against the Cincinnati Reds.

Define a real Cardinal fan.
Before the advent of every game or almost every game being telecast on cable or satellite, real Cardinal fans could only watch a limited amount of televised games, listen to them on the radio, or follow them in the newspapers. Before the advent of television, real Cardinal fans could only listen to the radio or follow them in the newspapers. Before the advent of radio, real Cardinal fans could only follow the Cardinals in the newspaper.
In each circumstance real Cardinal fans could also attend Cardinal games in person if financial circumstances permitted. Attendance was very low during the Great Depression.

I just checked, and the game is blacked out on Root Pittsburgh. I thought the last time a game was blacked out, the other team's RSN accidentally let the game go through.

I think FoxSports really stinks. So - they got 20 additional games from KSDK... so they wanted extra money.
But now they lose the game to ESPN. So they blackout some other game to penalize subscribers.
With FoxSports reasoning - if they lose a game to ESPN, shouldn't they be giving money back instead of blacking out additional games? They really stink.

Just a reminder before anyone accuses AT&T U-Verse of blacking out more Cardinal games. The game tomorrow (Saturday) against the Cubs is an afternoon Fox game of the week. It will be seen on KTVI Channel 2 in St. Louis at 3:10 PM Central Time. The Sunday night game against the Cubs is on ESPN at 7:05 PM Central Time

This Sunday's home game against the Cincinnati Reds is the last one to be blacked out for U-Verse subscribers by Fox Sports Midwest . Instead of being upset, enjoy the day. Spend the day with your family, friends, spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend. Go on a picnic or have a family gathering while listening to the game on KMOX with Mike Shannon and John Rooney.
After Sunday, the remainder of the Cardinals schedule will be on television without any blackouts. See, you made it through the season despite missing the 20 games on Fox Sports Midwest. That wasn't too bad was it?
And yes, I am a passionate Cardinal's fan. I go to 25-30 games a year, and watch or lsten to the games whenever I can.
I wonder how many of the people who threatened to leave U-Verse when the blackouts were announced in early April actually did so. I bet the percentage who actually quit was very small compared to the number who threatened to do so.
