Anyone else feel like the web remote access is seriously lacking? It's nice when it works, but it seems like it should be a lot faster. I also get errors all the time - (wouldn't you now I can't get it to error out now so I can get a screen shot).
I also think the stb should have a web server so you could access the DVR directly from your local network and search, schedule, and modify from there. Anyway...just some thoughts.

Really no new info, it's all been posted before if you had taken the time to search for it. ![]()

I think that the functionality is fine, especially with what is going on behind the scenes to make it happen.

I don't find it an issue, I don't use it often but it works fine when I need it. I certainly would not classify it as a 'turd'

I normally do not get any errors with the web remote. Sometimes it's not the fastest thing in the world, but it does work.
It does have one bug -- when you delete several shows, when the deletions are finished, the web remote will not properly show the programs that are remaining on the DVR until the page is refreshed. So when you go delete several shows, after the delete is finished, refresh the page in your browser to get a correct list of the programs remaining. If you don't do this you will find that you can easily delete a show you didn't mean to delete.
If the web remote is giving you trouble, make sure you're using a modern web browser (Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3.0.x), with all updates applied. The web remote uses a lot of Javascript and AJAX, so if you're using an older or off-brand browser, it may give you trouble.

ive used it at least a dozen times since i got uverse 4-6 weeks ago. never had an issue of any kind. it has allways been fast and smooth.
what else does it need? what else would you want it to do for the cheap price of uverse.
in my opinion.... there are other things that need to be addressed with uverse that will enhance the experience inside the home before they worry about the web interface.

So I proceeded to click on the tab taking me to my existing recordings. Bang....split second and there it was. Deleted a program I did not want to keep. BANG. It was done. WOW. Really slow. Both functions were carried out in about 30 seconds. My goodness....what a drag.![]()

Geezus. Try not to be such a homer. I don't think anyone said the functionality is broken. It's bare bones with basic features. It could be improved in several ways:
1. better search capability
2. show more channels/additional time
3. allow filters to show genres or allow you to create favorite channel groups
4. allow grouping in recorded shows to allow multiple deletion
Those are just a few ideas, I'm sure many more could be implemented. And btw, 15 seconds to load the account page isn't exactly blazing speed on a 10mb connection.

Randy, not sure what service that is in the screenshot, but that would definitely be sweet to have a similar interface.

the original post to the thread said that it was SLOW and FULL of ERRORS. hpmsrm was only showing who the homer really was. at least you improved upon the direction this thread was going by actually explaining some of the things that would make it better.
maybe if the title would have said "improvements needed to web remote access and stbs" and not "web remote access is a turd".... people might not have taken the defensive to something that works just fine.
maybe if he would not have been bashing the speed and errors that most of us apparently are not capable of relating too.... people would not have taken the defensive to something that works just fine.
maybe if you wouldnt have said "Geezus. Try not to be such a homer." and then "And btw, 15 seconds to load the account page isn't exactly blazing speed on a 10mb connection."..... i would not have the drive to send this post even further in a negative direction by putting you in your place.
once again, the web interface isnt that bad. it is simple, basic, easy, and does what it is supposed to do. i feel as if there are plenty of other things that need to be addressed long before they start tweaking it. i must say though, it would be nice if it didnt show the channels i have hidden from my guide.

And after it is all said and done...it still errors out on me. Needa or hpmsrm ...did you write the code for it? Just wondering how I struck such a soft spot. It's still a turd.

Whatever issues that you're having with the web remote aren't widespread. Are you having any other service issues?

I logged in to see if there was any news on a pending update to the Web remote Access... Wow these forums are harsh and I hesitate to even post this... However, I have to agree with the OP... Web Remote Access is a turd... It is slow and poorly designed... Slow as in it takes anywhere from 25 - 40 seconds to load the guide upon entry to the site
The best example I can give is "Conflict Resolution"... Little to no information is given when you are presented the choice of what show to cancel... And once you do make a choice and cancel a show it drops completely off the radar... I should not have to make notes or remember what shows I have canceled...
Best scenario would be to give me options for "Other Showtimes" for the conflicting shows... I should not have to cancel at all, only manage the times available... Cancel would be an option only if it was the only showing of that particular production...
Next best scenario would be to leave the "canceled show" in the "Scheduled Shows" Tab of the application... That way I can see the programs that will not record that were previously requested to record...
A few other issues:
Have the option to search for "Other Showtimes" from its infobox... For clarification, I'm calling the box you get when you click on an entry from the Guide or from the "Scheduled Shows", the infobox...
Have the Search Box accessible from all the Tabs not just the Guide
Work out the bugs with the Search Box... After 2-3 Searches the Search Box freaks out and disappears... Forcing me to refresh the page and wait another 25-40 seconds while it reloads...

You think this version is bad ... you should have seen the one they used to have before this one was rolled out.
