Clearly someone should moderate this board a little more frequently. And all of you that keep talking down to anyone trying to communicate a question or suggestion, get a better hobby. Yes, I used and enjoyed ExerciseTV on UVerse and considered it a great perk of the system. I'm not yelling at AT&T for ExerciseTVs unfortunate demise but simply would appreciate if AT&T would figure out a way to bring back something like this. Yes, it was free but I would have happily paid for it. For a company that size and supposedly forward moving, I'm sure someone can find a way to provide this. No, I'm not fat, lazy, or broke...as you assume all of us are that enjoyed this feature. The problem is that almost every time something like this has happened, AT&T somehow is simply the one to be blamed. We've had it with the local broadcast channels telling their viewers to call AT&T (or Verizon, or Time Warner, or Suddenlink ...) and threaten to cancel, because it's AT&T's (or ___'s) fault a viewer might not be able to watch their channel anymore. NEVER is there a mention of the channel's owner being at fault for a potential impasse.
We've had it with the WWE discontinuing their On Demand service --- on ALL providers --- but somehow it's AT&T's fault, once again.
And in all of this, there are those who just plain come here to accuse AT&T of being behind all of these things. There's a 150+ page thread just on Hallmark Channel that, even though it was started over a YEAR ago, there are people who have not even BOTHERED to find out the information behind it ---- they simply want to throw their accusations around.
Take a look at this thread's last 3 pages alone. How many times was it repeated about WHY Exercise TV went dark, AND that AT&T didn't have anything to do with it? Look on the main page of this subforum for the threads that were started and MOVED into this thread, from people who didn't even BOTHER looking for an answer first. These actions are why regular, ordinary posters, who are merely CUSTOMERS themselves, get frustrated or irritated in trying to address others' problems. So I would hope that you could find some way of considering this in your assessment of the answers that come forth.
Now as to AT&T trying to find something to replace the lost programming:
Comcast discontinued Exercise TV on their systems as of December 15th. They replaced what was lost --- in their "good faith" way --- with some workout offerings. Over in their forum, the complaints have been through the roof: "Too old", "Too cheesy", "Not what Exercise TV was like at all", "Ugh, no way can I use those". So, Comcast has gone a bit out of their way to do something about the loss .... and the CUSTOMERS are complaining. And it's still offered free.
The problem with trying to replace a lot of this content is in the LICENSING. There are those "fitness gurus" who would much rather cash-in on the DVD sales or online subscriptions for their creations -- and their NAME -- over having their precious workouts being made available to a larger audience "free". Keep this in mind: Comcast, with their size and leverage, was one of the primary equity holders in Exercise TV to begin with. And if even THEY haven't come up with some kind of deal that could be worked out with the workout licensors, that can tell you who's holding out.
If Comcast's having trouble licensing a replacement, what does that tell you about the prospects AT&T would face, with around 10% of their subscriber base?
jbdet313: You said it all very well.

Could someone from AT & T please explain what happened to Exercise TV!! I used it almost everyday and now it is gone. I am so disappointed with the entire At & t package now. I do buy videos and have a home gym but loved the selection that the network offered. Please bring it back. I called and talked to a customer representative and he couldn't even explain what happened. Someone please tell me.

From Wikipedia:
ExerciseTV was a United States television network broadcast on digital cable.[1] It was free and had video-on-demand (VOD) systems.[2][3] The network received around eight million views every month.[2]
ExerciseTV workouts ranged from cardio and abs to yoga, pilates and personal training.[4]
[edit] History
Launched in January 2006,[5] ExerciseTV was founded by Jake Steinfeld and created by Comcast.[6][3] ExerciseTV is currently available in the United States via Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bresnan Communications.[1] The network is managed by Comcast, with New Balance and Time Warner Cable acting as additional equity partners.
ExerciseTV is a joint venture between Comcast, Time Warner Cable, New Balance and Jake Steinfeld of Body by Jake.[7]
In an open letter on its website, ExerciseTV announced on 25 November 2011 that it will be closing its Video OnDemand channel and website on 31 December 2011, although select programming will continue to be available for purchase.[8]
The bottom line is that Exercise TV no longer exists. AT&T had nothing to do with that. In addition, there are no replacements out there.
I repeat, AT&T had nothing to do with Exercise TV being off the air. It was a decision of the company that created it.
I hope that you are not a One and Done One Post Wonder, and will come back to the forum to read what I and others have written.

BYU channel 567 on U-verse has a morning workout show at 8:00 am called Total Body Workout hosted by Deni Preston no Exercise TV but its something for those of you looking for an alternative. Thanks Texasguy for all the great info. Gaiam had a few workouts on exercise tv and some of the trainers have their own websites that you can buy the workouts from. Chris Freytag and Cindy Whitmarsh to name a few. Collagevideo.com also offers alot of workout videos. Hope this helps some of you.

Would the opposite of Exercise TV be the Travel Channel's "Man Vs. Food" with Adam Richman?

I just switched from comast cable to U-verse on Dec 22, 2011. One main point I express to the sales man was that I wanted the exercise TV. I wished he would have told me the contracted was going to end on Dec 31, 2011. I would have NEVER SWITCHED. Comcast cable had at least 40 different exercise videos available to watch whenever. I need someone to contact me to I can get a refunded and switch back.
Please contact me

Read this thread.
Even if you Googled "Exercise TV", you'd have been told why.

No one can contact you from this forum. This is a peer-to-peer forum. All of us are U-Verse subscribers just like you. If you want to talk to someone about a refund, please call AT&T customer service at 1-800-288-2020.
As far as a contract between AT&T and Exercise TV ending on December 31, 2011, that was not the case. The reality was that the owners of Exercise TV decided to end their Video on Demand aspect. They only sell exercise videos now.
AT&T had nothing to do with the demise of Exercise TV.

Wow, some people really just jump to conclusions. They don't really try to find out the story behind things, which can usually be found easily be just Googling. I can't believe a thread about an exercise VOD has grown to 10 pages. Some of these folks need to stop these posts that makes them look foolish and go for a nice run- before all this posting starts affecting that wasteline.

All the exercise programs under the free channels have just disappeared! If programming and features are changed, why don't you use the wonderful technology uverse offers and inform people? AT&T has this feature every time you turn the tv on. They can post messages and updates. People love to be informed...not left wondering - bad customer service! Not to mention they have our email addresses, I always know when my bill is ready! Why can't you send info about programming?

Obviously NOT a serious fitness buff, if you've FINALLY discovered this stuff missing. It is January 19th, Uverse ended Exercise TV on Dec 31st, and Comcast discontinued theirs on Dec 15th (they were the primary provider of it).
There's a huge thread about this in the forum you make this posting in, that somehow YOU never even made an attempt to find. And you're talking about someone else using the technology the right way???
Exercise TV may have sent out messages to the cable provider customers about going dark at the end of 2011, BUT if you use Google on this thing you're using called the iNTERNET, you won't find ANY prior notice given by any of them. The first indications were on Comcast's forums about the programming being gone and partially replaced starting around December 15th.
The information may not come directly from AT&T's mouth, but with the internet, you can find it. Do you rely on what your local newspaper tells you about everything that's going on SOLELY, or do you peruse other news sources via the internet, TV, radio, or other outlets? Part of being truly "informed" these days means that YOU, yourself, have to expend some energy to get it. And it's basically available right at the spot you made this post from.

jbdet313: I hope that barnhill jp responds to your answer. I asked ddavislivewell to respond when his post was answered, and he never did. As you said, it would help if these first time posters would do some research on their own and/or read earlier posts about the subject.
Then they would not automatically assume that everything is AT&T's fault. On the other hand, that is probably their purpose.

If there aren't any other exercise content providers, how can AT&T replace it?
Resident Xbox ACE. Ask me almost anything about U-Verse on the Xbox.
Xbox Gamertag: americangame

It is AT&T's fault that there are not any other exercise content providers. Everything is AT&T's fault. The people who get so anti- AT&T, and blame it for everything, should pose the same question to other providers. Television providers, such as AT&T, Charter, Direct, Dish, etc., do not responsibility to create new programming. Their responsibility is to provide existing programming. Program content providers are the ones responsible for creating new programming.

I'd like to know:
If WalMart has a special buy one - get one package of Garnier shampoo, and the next week you go shopping there, do you think you're ENTITLED to get the same offer, even though those specially packaged ones are sold out?
That's what this is sounding like.
These "fitness addicts" were getting this additional programming at no additional cost, and so now that it's not available, then AT&T just MUST bring something like it back.
I think there's a wrong picture painted of just who is part of the "entitlement class". It's obviously not limited to 20-somethings carrying banners and pooping in public parks. It's made up of Jane Fonda-wannabes subscribing to Uverse in suburbia. ![]()

No one asking about the replacements for Exercise TV seems to want to start an argument like others are doing. All we are asking is if anyone knows if there will be a replacement. No it is not AT&T's responsibility to replace Exercise TV, but from the comments, it seems as if it was very popular. As someone else said, they spent the money on Santa Tracker! Yes we could all join gyms, but that isn't the question being asked. Again, does anyone know if there is a plan to add other exercise free on demand programs?

There is no "Exercise T. V. " option in the On Demand In the D-G category from the "by Network" section. Is that due to region?
As has been discussed at length in this forum, Exercise TV has ceased their operations and no longer available on ANY provider. Has nothing to due with region, rather the company going out of business.

Again, As I posted, that option does not exist. What say you?
