Will Att Uverse offer NHL Center Ice????

Uverse is now offering ESPN Game Plan, NFL Network.  Needs to offer NHL Center Ice for us die-hard hockey fans.  I switched from Time-Warner in the expectation NHL Center Ice would be offered.  If it isn't I will be major disappointed.  Any other Hockey fans out there who agree?

When I was offered U-verse, I made the CSR check with her manager to be sure that we would be offered an NHL hockey package and he said we would be.  He said they "definitely will," not maybe, or not this season, he said they "definitely will" offer a hockey package.  But as of today, (Sep 19) none is available. When I spoke to a CSR this morning, she said that they won't know what's available until 2 days before it's ready.  As we are already in pre-season, they only have until the first regular season game before I call and cancel this U-verse service.

And now, after reviewing some forums, it's looking less and less likely, and if that's the case, we'll problaby cancel ALL of our ATT services because of the lie.  We lost our local minor-league team and Center Ice was all we had... I'd hate it because everything else on U-verse is better, but will go back to Comcast for Center Ice alone.

I'm so happy that 1 channel will not make or break my tv service.  But if you are a die hard fan, you are a die hard fan..hehe.  This is a new service, new channels will come, hope you return when that channel appears.

sirooga - we're talking about more than just one channel.  Center Ice is like the GameDay packages, where we can see any NHL game in the country.  For those of us who don't have a hockey team anymore, Center Ice is the ultimate fan's package (here in Indiana, the only games we get are the ones Versus shows, so that's it, with Center Ice, we can see all our favorite teams whenever they play).

Ah I see.  I gave up the football package with DirevTV so I understand I guess but we also have 2 NHL teams within 30 minutes of my house so I've never considered buying it. Hehe.  As for football us near L.A. have no team so I feel your pain.

I switched from Time Warner because they were horrible. It would be nice if Uverse carried the Centre Ice package or Versus.

Versus is carried already on U-Verse as is Versus/Golf HD too.

There still is no Hockey Package at this time as well.

I also had the rep call a CSR and they said that they WILL have Center Ice.  In fact, I had it noted on my contract.  They better resolve this fast, I'm not going to be happy without the center ice package.

lol, u were lied to.  I was told there was Fox Sports OH in HD, and there isnt.  It was a major factor for me when deciding to switch, as I watch around 100 of the Reds games, and most of the Blue Jackets games as well.  Have u ever tried to follow the puck on SD?  next to impossible.  Here I am 6 months later, and missed entire Reds season in HD.  Now with NHL on the verge of starting I fear the same will happen. 

I'm about to switch back to Time Warner now that they have the Big Ten Network.  Plus their HD is way more crisp.  HD on Uverse is nice, but not as crystal clear as Time Warner, and I have a 50" Sony SXRD with full 1080p so I can definately tell the difference.

Well I'm staying with Directtv because of the NHL Centerice.  Even though U-verse would save me money.  Come on Att u offer InDemand so why not offer the NHL Centerice?

Well guys, I can wait no longer. With the season starting this weekend, it looks as though there will be no Center Ice on Uverse this season. I have no choice but to switch back to Time Warner. Its a shame though, as I really loved the service. AT&T, you just lost a customer.

The channels will eventually come as more and more people subscribe to UV,  Each channel has to be negotiated, and those that know about legal things know that this can take time.

Now here's how I believe it works.  The sat. providers get it right from the NHL.  And then all cable companies (Comcast, Time Warner, ect) setup this joint venture called "InDemand" to offer all of their "on demand" and sports packages and keep prices lower.  (someone here told me that) 

Because if you look at the CenterIce page on nhl.com, they say it's available on satellite through Dish Network and DirecTV.  And on cable through "InDemand".

So what I think is that if U-Verse were to go through "InDemand", they would have to join that group.  Or they could get it right from the NHL like the sats do.  I would rather they go that route because the sats get more home AND away feeds for games, and they get games in HD.  I know when I had Comcast, I got one feed, and never in HD.

I was on the InDemand web site last week and left them a message about whether or not they were going to supply Center Ice to Uverse. I gave them my email address to let me know. I haven't heard a thing from them. That's the second time I've done that and heard nothing in return. Guess they could care less.

But, something new was announced today by The NHL Network. They're going to carry Hockey Night In Canada games on their channel which is good news for those of us who live along the Canadian border. I noticed that NHL Network is listed among all those new HD channels that are supposed to coming by years end. I guess if we can't get CBC as part of our local channels, this will be the next best thing. It won't be Center Ice but, it'll be a nice addition to hockey viewers. And that brings me to another point. If NHL Network is added among those new HD channels, can Center Ice really be far behind. They almost go hand in hand. On some cable and maybe satellite systems, when the hockey season officially ends, they take NHL Network off their channel lineup till it starts up again. Maybe, just maybe, Center Ice could be closer than we thing. Though not close enough as far as I'm concerned.

Thing is, Time Warner will have NHL Network everywhere by the end of the year also, so its not a big deal. Only difference is that Uverse will have NHL Network in HD.

So,

NHL Network + Center Ice > Only NHL Network

i see center-ice is not offered but can someone answer this?? there have been three hockey games so far this year and all three games on three different sports networks , have been blacked out on uverse? one game was on FSP and it was blacked out on uverse but my next door neighbour has direct tv and he was able to see the game. what is the sense of having all these "sports channels" if you cant actually see a game being played???

in response to the above post, if you buy the ultra Uverse packagae, you get every regional sports network. HOWEVER, what they fail to mention is that every single sports game WILL BE BLACKED OUT. You can only watch highlights shows, news, etc.
