U-verse was installed last Friday and my wireless connection 40 feet from the RG was mediocre (300kbps down). I made some changes to the position of the RG and for the next 2 hours I got 1400kbps down and 900kbps up (per Speakeasy). Then, all of a sudden, the connection went from saying "Local and Internet" in my Vista tool bar to just "Local". Nothing changed but now I have no wireless connection even though the Network and Sharing Center says I have good signal strength.
I can connect to my friends wireless router across the street with no problems (+100 feet away). Any thoughts on why the connection would just drop out like that?
Also, there appears to be a button on the bottom front of the RG that looks like a wireless transmitter icon. That button just flops around and doesn't push anything on the inside if you hit it. Is that button just decoration or do I have a banged up RG?
Thanks
PS TV and phone works fine and so does the Internet on a CAT5.

Sounds like you have vista, may seem really slow, but try and powercycle your computer and try again. many times (in my experience) vista will get the local only bug when something has changed.
the button is merely decroative, it serves no purpose other than to make people think that they broke something when it doesnt work ![]()
hope that helps.
