hey does any one have any words about when a second stream of HD is being added?

official word is the 2Q into the 3Q of this year. sounds like they plan on making it 2HD/2SD, instead of the 3HD/1SD now. Once they implement WHDVR it looks like it will be the 2/2 plus three streams internal to your house to use to play previously recorded content.

Not sure what to make of that information though, at least as far as authenticity/accuracy goes.

It's a slide straight from the quarterly earnings reports from ATT, it should be pretty accurate

At the UFO landing pad, with my 5/0--IF I had HD, would I be able to record more than one HD at a time?

No, because you would be limited to one HD stream, and recording an HD channel would use the entire stream. You wouldn't even be able to watch another HD channel while you're recording in HD. Now you could record 3 SD channels while watching an HD, or you could record 3 sd and 1 HD and not watch anything...lol.

But unless you're really interested in HD, you're far better off with your current provisioning. Embrace the glitch! If you ever make the switch to HD, you'll lose that provisioning permanently.

I figured as much, but randy said I should get another HDTV and test (no $$, so I was wondering). Guess I have to settle for just recording FIVE SD channels at once.

I think you should get 5 HDTV's to test, since your house is provisioned that way. It's just money right?

I wonder how many ppl would rather have 5:0 instead of 2:2.....they should consider marketing it I think because not everybody has/wants an HDTV.

And maybe I wouldn't even be able to get HD with my provisioning? I'm afraid to think what might happen...

Forgot to mention we have 1 HDTV, so I only need 4 more.

Yeah you wouldn't be able to get HD with your provisioning. Innocent lil Spd would call sales, order the HD package, and then they would all spaz out, probably bungle it up a few times, and eventually somebody would figure out that your account is "special." A few frantic calls between departments later (over a week or two) would eventually end up in your provisioning going down to 3 SD and 1 HD stream. Once that was done, you would never get the 5 SD again, even if you asked for it.

I'm not innocent--I've talked to TS about it and the techs who have been here. All they say is it shouldn't be that way, but that's just the way it is!

Maybe that has something to do with my wireless woes?

ok...so if we get 2 HD streams and 2 SD streams, does that mean i can only watch /record 2 SD streams ? I can only watch/ record HD on the other two?

No it would be the same as it is now with the 3/1 ratio. IF you are using your 1HD stream now, then you can use up to 3 other SD streams. So with the 2/2 ratio, IF you are using the 2 HD streams, you will have 2 more SD ones you can use, but IF you aren't using any HD streams, you will still have the 4 SD ones to work with.
