is there a way I can submit a feature request for my att u-verse voice service. Here are two features I would find useful.
1) I would to send a text message from my u-verse voice account.
There are times when I need to send someone a text message and I am at my computer. It is easier to compose the text message using my computer keyboard. Sometimes it seems like it would be quicker to send the text message from the computer instead of turning on the phone and trying to use a 12 digit keypad to type the text message.
2) I would like a way to upload my own greeting message (.wav file) from my online u-verse account, instead of recording the message over the phone. Ideally I would record my message using my computer and upload the .wav file to my u-verse account. I have a home business and I want to include a short bit of music in my greeting message and trying to record something like this over the phone is a hassle. Also uploading a cleanly recorded wav file might give better quality playback message compared to recording over the phone.

There is a channel request site for Uverse TV but to my knowledge there's nothing for Uvoice. You can send a PM to Alex
one of the Community Managers, maybe he can forward it to the appropriate parties.

Indeed. He has forwarded my suggestions to the appropriate work groups, in the past. What they do with the suggestions is not known but at least I tried. I think that PM'in Alex is a great avenue.

So, I looked a little at computer IM systems & there seem to be a lot of them. So, there must be a way to address messages between systems,
If you are using messaging on the phone - Do you send messages just to a closed group (phones)? Or, do you have access across platforms?
Since U-voice and UM (for POTS) both have ability to process/respond to various formats of messaging, other that text, texting seems to be a logical extension.
In the mean time, perhaps you can set up one of the other IM apps to send messages to your universe via your computer.

You can send texts to most cell phones by using e-mail. You have to know the format of the e-mail address for the recipient phone, which is based on the carrier it's on. For example, to send an e-mail to 803-555-0199 on Verizon, you'd send the e-mail to 8035550199@vtext.com. I'm not sure what it is for the other carriers; at least one guy at work who is on AT&T has an address in this format: 8035550199@cingularme.com.
Keep your e-mails short (160 characters or less).
Here's a page that lists the format for some major carriers. I cannot attest to its accuracy:
