Just an FYI reminder to all - - Nothing is forever. The other day all the recordings on our DVR disappeared...vanished...gone...POOF...erased...bhu bye! We made the mistake of recording and not viewing some programs, thinking we had "all the time in the world" to watch them at our convenience. But NOOOOO.... time warp gremlins ate them all.

Solution, for now...the DVR box had to be replaced (& upgraded) along with the other 4 boxes in the house. NOW we know better for next time )c: Fool me twice...shame on me!

This does sound like they traded out your boxes for the Cisco Boxes, since Illinois is one of the places that has the system capable of carrying the Cisco Boxes for sure.

I have this feeling that Illinois and Georgia are going to be the first places to get the WHDVR, since they only install Cisco Boxes in those states i know for sure now.

nah allready stated where and when to some degree and that wasnt it...

a lil slap to shutup the poster was earned

its coming and i want speculate and i bet it may change a time or 2 before it reaches from the easel to the implementation...

also doesnt sound like cisco or motorola has any bearing as its software and they both run the same for as i know...

with all the buzz about training and sporadic dates posted etc it must be on the near horizon ( soon = this year )

whats been posted is by tech support and prem techs who are not really at the level to know for sure i imagine..

i would say they are the outer loop and the inner loop is mum

also u might as well start saying thdvr now that its official ... aka july presentation etc

my take (not facts ) just my humble opnion

dunno big debate going on with which is better..??

a lot of peeps hope cisco boxes solve hdmi issues and sound drop on 5.1 sound..

The DVR is a computer and computers often suffer hardware failures. It stinks that you lost data, but that's a fact of life.

I'm also in the Chicago market (Orland Park is a suburb of Chicago) and I've got Motorola boxes. Had the service since Feb.

It wouldn't surprise me but I don't think that is the case. If they rollout thdvr to only people with the new boxes it is going to be an extremely slow rollout. I think the test is being done in areas with Cisco and Moto boxes. That would be the smart thing for UV to do because they are not getting the boxes out very fast.

what's the aveage number of installed boxes--2 or 3. that 1.5 to 2 million boxes that would have to be replaced. that would be a huge expense which would probably land right on my monthly uverse bill...

I think the average is about 2.5. And yes that would be extremely expensive and ill advised. They would be forced to charge for thdvr if they swapped out boxes first. I think the cisco boxes will eventually get to us all but that won't be until the moto boxes can't keep up with the upgrades, or after UV has been lauched in over 90 per cent of the country. It just makes sense.

Like others, I believe software will be what gives us THDVR.

And I had the same issue as the OP.

And I had the new Cisco boxes.

I got home last night and noticed Big Brother wasn't recording, and went into my scheduled recording, no recording were scheduled.

And all my recording that I had not watched were gone.

I don't know what is going on, but if this is the kind of service I can expect from AT&T, I am going back to dish network.

I got Uverse very early this year and live in the Chicago market and have Motorolla boxes. The tech who recently came out for a problem said that they have already switched to Cisco in the area. He told me that the only difference was that they were supposed to be faster starting up. However, he told me that he hasn't noticed any difference whatsoever. Finally, he said that if we complain enough to AT&T that they will probably send us a Cisco box, but I do not see the point when my Motorollas are working fine.

I'm on the Illinois side of St Louis, and we have Motorola boxes here too. I had mine installed two weeks ago. No sign of Cisco boxes in these parts of Illinois.
