I receive a pop up stating that my browser is blocking flash whenever I go to my email account. I am using IE9, however I get the same thing when using Google Chrome. I called ATT support and went through many adjustments in the browser but was unable to fix the issue. ATT says the problem is not in the RG. This started about a week ago and appears on both my desktop and laptop computers. Anyone know how to correct this?

Actually there is a very recent Flash upgrade needed that I found out about yesterday w/Secunia's Personal Software Inspector (PSI 2). It was not there last Saturday. ![]()

I have the same problem with Firefox and Chrome, but not IE 8. I e-mailed Yahoo about it, but they passed the buck to AT&T support. Rather than waste my time with AT&T I figured I'd check here to see if anyone has a solution. I upgraded to the latest version of Flash, but no soap. My guess is that it's Yahoo's problem, but they're pretending it isn't so we'll bug AT&T about it.
Here's the full text of the message, in case it means anything to anybody:
"Flash required for this application
Your browser is blocking Flash. You must have Flash 9.0 or higher installed and unblocked to run an openmail application. You can download and install the latest Flash Player here "
Flash works fine on every site I've tried, and the webmail works fine after I dismiss the error message. One workaround is to switch back to Mail Classic, if you don't mind that it doesn't open the inbox by default.
Googling finds lots of people complaining about this on various forums in the last few days, so it's probably Yahoo's problem rather than AT&T's.

Having the same problem with email in both IE and Google Chrome. Was on AT&T support Chat for nearly an hour without luck. Was told by chat it was a hardware problem and try AT&T Connect for help (at a price) or call my computer manufacturer, even though having the same problem with HP desktop and Acer laptop. Called Saturday and talked to AT&T support who referred me to Adobe Flash support at 800 833-6687 on Monday. Clearly an AT&T/Yahoo problem. Grrrrr.

I checked for the heck of it and am getting the same pop up on both IE and FF. I don't use Yahoo mail anyway, I use Thunderbird on my XP desktop and Live Mail on my Win7 laptop and both are unaffected, which would lead me to believe it's a Yahoo issue.

I'm pretty much convinced that this is an upstream rather than a client (browser settings, etc) issue.

Tried Flash help without success. Tried calling Adobe at the 800# previously posted but they want $39.95 to talk. Grrrrr.

Don't think it's a Flash problem or anything on the client end. This problem belongs on Yahoo's and/or ATT's lap.

From https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/924230
"Here's what happened: Last week, Adobe updated the way they report the Flash version (not Firefox version but the version of Flash) as part of a Flash update. It seems that Yahoo Mail didn't update their code to check correctly and so it looks like (to them) that Flash isn't working (they can see that you have it installed but the version check code doesn't work).
This needs to be fixed on the Yahoo side. In the meantime, you could try cor-el's suggestion to switch to classic view."

As I suspected, this was something ATT / Yahoo needed to fix. Wonder what the problem *really* was.

The problem really was that Adobe changed one of the mechanisms that Flash reports its version number to a caller. The change was such that Yahoo didn't understand the response and thought you had and old-or no-Flash on the system.
Yahoo now handles the new response style. Problem solved.
