viewing time limits on DVR

Is there any way to set viewing time limits on one DVR so my kids are not watching TV in the middle of the night?! It's almost worth it to go back to DirecTV just for this feature!!!

Unfortunately, there is no capability to set viewing hours on U-verse STBs as with DirecTV. This is a great feature, and much more useful than parental locking. Maybe someday it will become available, providing there's no patent obstacle preventing it.

This is a no brainer. Take the tv's out of their rooms. They have enough distractions as it is.

Just unplug the Residential Gateway at sleep time and all TV's will turn off. Also, there may be a way to program the Residential Gateway to control TV times. Call customer service on that and let us all know.

Don't think I would want to power down the RG or the STB/DVR since most updates get sent during sleep hours.

That device will be great for people who don't have VoIP service. If you shut off the rg you will lose your phone service along with the tv and internet. It would be great if there was away to program the tv/internet services to be suspended at certain times.

I vote for BeeBee's solution. I have a couple of plug in timers that we use to turn lights on and off when we are away from home for extended periods. Bought them at the hardware store but I'll bet WalMart has them too. No reason these could not be used to shut down power to the TV sets in the kids rooms during certain hours. Even at my age I can remember, although I did not have a TV or even a radio in my bedroom, my parents had a fit when they caught me reading my books under the blanket with a flashlight.

Umm...if the kids are smart enough to operate the STB and TV (and know how not to get caught or don't care if they do), what makes you think they wouldn't be able to quickly figure out how to remove a plug-in timer (and get a laugh out of it as well)?

Exactly. Just don't let them have a t.v.! Problem solved. Kids are too distracted in life for their own t.v. Let them watch here and there but don't let them turn into the typical "zombie kid".
