Connecting Wireless Printer to Uverse

We just got Uverse and I can not get my wireless printer to connect, it says it connected but I can see it to install it. It does not have a gateway ip and a strange IP. Can anyone help.

What manufacturer/model gateway/modem do you have?

If you originally had your printer connected to a different network/gateway, did you do a factory reset on the printer?

Is it possible during the setup of your printer, when asked about the network type, you selected "Ad-Hoc" instead of "Infrastructure"?

Does the strange IP begin with 169.254 ?
