My email att.net was hacked today 7/12. Mail was sent to all my contacts. How do I find out if it is related to the Yahoo theft announced today?

Mine was hacked today apparently.....a spam email sent out to all my contacts. I have already changed all passwords and actually whoever did it had changed my contact email addresses to theirs
What prevents this from happening again and can you look into that email address I provided?
