Problems connecting to PlayStation 3 online games, specifically call of duty modern warfare 3.

I am having problems connecting to PlayStation 3 online games, specifically Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. We have been playing this game for months, but today we got the message that their server was unavailable. We went to their website and they said their servers were okay. We know this because we can see that our friends were currently online and playing. Their website had a link for network troubleshooting. When we clink on the link it said to disable the firewall feature within the router, which I called AT&T support and they disabled it. However, I still need to set port forwarding on the router to the IP address of the PlayStation 3. Not sure how to do this and I don't want to pay AT&T for this. Does anyone have any suggestions?
