Does anyone has a complaint department number for AT&T?
Their customer service sucks; is been 6 months and they have not been able to fix my billing.
I signed up for $14.95 a month I've seen anything but the correct billing. I'm tired of their lies.

If you haven't found anyone to complain to yet the Customer Advocate Dept {Personal content removed for safety}. Someone will take down
your complaint & then within 48 hours an advocate will call you back - then your problems may finally get resolved. I am in the process right now.

I wish I had known there was an advocate for complaints! I have been dealing with a lost payment issue since January 2011 and just by a fluke of luck I was transferred to the corporate offices and the young woman (named Hope) that answered my call actually understood what I was needing and contacted the correct people herself and returned my call within 2 hours. After dealing with so many customer reps that dropped-the-ball for 4+ months, it was a joy to be in contact with someone who not only sympathized with my frustration, but also understood what was needed to fix it. I have been reading many of the complaints within this forum and have to say that I connect with most of them. And if I could, I would switch to another DSL company. My only option here in Yreka is through cable TV.....of which I do not have at this time. But I am debating paying the higher monthly cost, just to have someone local to deal with when problems occur. I have already discontinued my land line with ATT and have my cell phone with another provider.

Sign on to AT&T internet $24.95 a month with no kit or box.
I made a mistake to sign my bank account with them. Next you know I get a bill for $61.95 ($47.95 a month with a $14.00 kit charge). Mistake.
So I Email them about this and Tan. a customer service employee wrote back to apologize and adjust my account to a one time fee of $36.95 due on the 8th of June 2011. Then adjust to $24.95. OK I said and I told them my account will be ready for the 8th with $40.00 in it.
Next you know I check my bank account and it is a -$120. Wow, what is this,
I say to myself. I look into it and AT&T took it out 6/1/11. I email the complaint on why this is happening to me. No responds.
So I go into my AT&T account and it said I owe $24.95 to be billed on June 3rd 2011. Wow, That is what I am suppose to pay but on the 8th. Now with the Automatic payment plan of 24.95 on the 3rd + $36.95 on the 8th (I will not have because they messed up my Account with the $120) + $120 + the 3 overdraft bank fees = -$292.90 on my account by the 8th. That puts me in dept. And this is not the first time AT&T has screwed me.
Now all I did was sign up for internet with my bank account under the automatic payment plan. Now put me in debt with along many other customers. This is why America is so behind in debt, because these big corporations Rip off Customers. And not just once, but many times over.
Something has to be done about this. They can not get away stealing peoples money. And I have a kid on the way, what I to do now?

At the end of May I had an awful experience with AT&T DSL service. It was documented and kicked around to several different departments for almost 48 hours. At one point I was given a physical address to mail my complaint to and was assured that they "respond immediately". Today I received my original letter as the address was incorrect. Part of me believes that the customer service person MADE UP THE ADDRESS to get me off his back. Does anyone have a way to communicate with AT&T???? Thanks.

Before I found this post, I called AT&T Customer Service three times trying to get a phone number, e-mail address, or mailing address for customer affairs/complaint department. Every time I was given a different phone number which turned out to be invalid each time. Nobody could help me with obtaining an e-mail address or mailing address. Unbelievable!!!!

Reference to contacting the Customer Advocate Dept.... How did that work out for you? I notice AT&T customer ratings continues downward at a fast pace....
I have absolutely given up on getting a simple order placed and getting a dial tone. I have received numerous commitments and appointment times and all have been worthless. I have been trying to get this since June 2, 2011.

David,
Thanks for offering to work on my problem. I recently transferred my telephones and internet service to AT&T. Unfortunately, after 3 weeks with AT&T I still do not have internet access. I have spoken to at least a dozen customer service reps and technicians who tell me that the problem is at the telephone poll. After considerable argument and aggrivation I found out that AT&T is installing or planning to install a fibre optic cable to my area, and this is why I do not have internet access. I have been unable to get a specific date the service will be installed. However. AT&T has no problem billing me for services I do not have. Why didn;t they tell me they did not have internet in my area. I am now stuck with continuing my Comcast service, which is 10 times more expensive. Help!!!

AT&T customer service really stinks. I am also strugling since last four months to resolve additional charges on my bill. Their employees have lied to me five different occasions. They don't do what they promise to do. Miserable service. No results even after spending hours on phone with them. Bottom line is they just want your money and do not want to refund what they promised. I don't know how they are still in business. No wonders they are loosing customers. Just imagine, they are holding cutomers money as long as they can, because they know most customers will get frustrated and give up eventually.

Hi Darkcloud1202,
That happen to me too last June 2011, I moved to a new apartment three houses from my old one, so I apply for a new account under my name 'cause our previous internet is under my Aunt's name. It took me 28 days, 3-4 accounts was set up and was cancelled for unknown reason, I've talked to about 20 representative with no luck until the end of June that was finally fixed. Now new problen arrised, I was billed for two account. I tried to call the customer serive this morning, I was on hold for 27 minutes until Alice, an AT & T agent took my call, she tranferred me to thier disconnection dept. I was on hold again for almost 30 minutes until I gave up with out talking to the disconnection Dept. This only show how poor is AT & T services. A lot of my friends are aslos complaining and planning to transfer with another carrier as soon as thier contract end. SO I am.

Can you share the advocate info again? I am in the process of getting screwed by AT&T right now...if I had a dime for every minute I have spent on the phone with them already trying to resolve issue after issue during the 4 months I had service...I will NEVER use this company again.

David, can I contact you about an issue I had with Live Chat people, or is that still for the tech department? It's great to know that human being is actually here to help, not just someone who talks via prescribed texts.

it doesn't have to be about billing issues, it can be anything really... typically I primarily work on the following
- DSL signaling problems- intermittent sync, no sync,
- DSL modem bridge mode problems- I have a document I typed up on how to bridge a motorola 2210 modem. I even PDF'd the thing.
- Uverse signaling problems- For instance I can check and see if the uverse line is having problems. I still may have to refer it for a ticket but as least I know I can do the line check and say "hey I think the problem is here.."
- DSL electronic provisioning issues- ISP router not built or built correctly, or records mismatching (for instance my records say you are to be here, here and here, and I find you all the way over there!)
Things I typically would have to refer
- Uverse availability problems outside the normal address validation requests.
- Billing issues- don't have access to those systems but know people who do!
- Sales issues- These I have to refer to find out what happend and why...
- Wireless problems- typically have to give those to my wireless contacts.
Things I kind of work on on the side with people
- WI-FI connectivity issues in ones own premise- Considering I have probably been through just about any piece of 3rd party CPE there is out there from linksys, belkin, dlink, u.s. robotics, 3com, 2wire, and even cisco products, it doesn't surprise me if there isn't an interference or bad channel issue or even a bad WI-FI nic that might be causing issues with wireless connectivity.
- DSL IW checking- Should that be filtered? Would a nid splitter be better?
Things I kind of do because I am a geek and do them when not at work
- Automated windows installs- Would you believe with the right SIF file you can get windows XP installed on even a p4 at 2.4Ghz in under 30 minutes? I can and have!
- I cut and make my own cat5e, cat6e, crossover and even gigabit ethernet cables
- User manual reading- I do quite a bit of this... I like them better than a harry potter book!
- Play Iphone games.
- I play mafia wars on facebook when I have time
- recently I have been watching old episodes of beavis and butthead, moved up to futurama, and headed to southpark next.
- As a geek I am constantly building out my local area network (LAN) at my house. I have a droboFS 5 bay unit, as least 6 pc's, two wireless AP's
- I built my own router instead of buying one from an old amd athlon 1.2Ghz machine, 2 NIC's and 256MB of main memory.
- Remove spyware and adware from machines- this one has been kind of a downturn. by the time I get some pc's they are so FUBAR'd that I can just "drive nuke" and start over.
- I fix laptops quite frequently- I just took mine apart and put in a new power connector on a ibm r61 laptop.
Things I can't fix
- problems in your life- I can only give advice and even then remember I might not have hit that yet at 36 years old. Best one I had was an 18year old that e-mailed me said he's trying to avoid jail. when I inquired as to why he said he was caught smoking a substance in his parents' house and caught the house on fire. Wanted to know what I would do...
- I can't fix credit problems- Sorry folks, don't have those powers, and apparently the goverment is learning they don't either.
- I can't stop the spammers, scam artists or hackers- like a bad rug in a room, they always show up some time or another
- I can't tell you if that girl/guy will say "yes" or likes you.
Other random thoughts-
- I don't go faster than a speeding bullet- (self explanitory)
- yes I have bad habits
- I am human last time I checked
- I live just across the bridge in illinois
- I bought a new car recently a 2010 traverse. My midlife crisis seems to be I have a sunroof now. I feel a bit younger now.

WE have been in business since 1960. ATT is a company that we will never use and I will try to explain why.Our store tele, computer, dsl everything with ATT went down. Our biz depends on ATT since we sell western union, lottery, etc. we call ATT repair on AUG 22 and where told it would be repaired AUG 26 by 6 PM. I explained to ATTthat our business depends on them and I would have to lay off people could they pu on fast track. ATT could care less, their robot answering people can only read what they are told to say. They refuse to put you to anyone of authority like a supervisor. After hours of calling, waiting, explaining to whomever they have answering, I got an operator to have A supervisor call me back. I spoke to a Miss who said she would open up an escalation ticket and would have her assistant Kim call me back . She did and left a message that there was nothing they could do. We waited and called on the AUG 27 STILL WITHOUT SERVICE, ATT explained they sent a tech and he closed the ticket and said he repaired it. Needless to say IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THEY OPENED a NEW ticket. I again have asked for a supervisor to call me back. That did not repair it as promised the 26th by 6 PM, and now we have to wait until the 29th of AUG. All throughout the week I have in calling MISS . She never answers her phone or calls back. When you can"t trust the company you do biz with, when they treat u like garbage it's time to look to other companies are who will treat u with respect. I own several other businesses that all of them use ATT along with ALL of our cellulars etc. This will come to a halt and we will start switching on Monday. We will also contact all our customers in all our businesses with the news letter, of what we think of ATT. They do not care about YOU.

About a month ago I had ATT change my phone number because I was having difficulty calling numbers that were within my area of service. As soon as the number changed I was happy cause I could finally call my apartment office and not receive a busy signal. If I knew then what I knew now I never would of changed it.
UVERSE SAGA- 20 Hours over 2 weeks.
So about 3 weeks ago I called ATT and they offered me Uverse for same price as my elite DSL with double the speed. It was a no brainer sign me up. Fast forward to 4 hours later and the agent and specialist give up. For some reason it says I have internet with someone other than ATT. I assure them this is not the case as I have elite dsl. The above scenario happened with 4-5 different agents over a 2 week period and no one could figure it out. So they gave up. (Turns out it was from the phone number change)
Accidentally unplug modem on Monday the 22nd at which point my internet stops working. It came unplugged at 10:00 am and I was on the phone with ATT until 4:45 when the problem was finally resolved or so I hoped. They assured me my internet would be up by the 24th at 8pm which it was not. After spending another 90 mins on the phone Wednesday night trying to get back online when I was told there is problems with the line. I kept trying and finally my internet came back on around 2pm Thursday.
I have never had such an exhausting experience with a company. I also work from home and 4 days of down time had a negative affect on my business. My bill is due on the 7th of September and it was already paid for as of last monday the 22nd so my online balance was zero dollars. Now after all the headaches to turn my internet back on I look up my account online and I owe 110.00 it says on the 7th of September.
Now I am so upset cause I must call them again tomorrow and explain the whole thing again. I was assured last Monday that I would not be charged extra cause my service has not changed. Att acknowledged my internet should not have been shut off(Phone Number Change) and due to that and the dozens of hours I spent working thru this problem. I would get the next 12 months of elite dsl for 19.99 which was fine.
I am so glad I checked my account balance online so I can yet again call ATT and try to resolve this on Monday the 29th. I would like to get Uverse eventually but everything has been such a nightmare. I actually cracked a beer at 2 in the afternoon last Monday cause I was so upset. It helped a little.
Thanks for any help with the wall of text above
I am desperate

Wheres the professionalism and customer service. All I wanted was a modem that I paid for from day one and they keep dodging. I guess my questions can be too much. For instance "how can you HELP me get this fixed?"
I have been with ATT for 3 yrs if not more. I pay 3000+ a year on phone and internet. I know, expensive.....but you would think prompt service right. Aint happening. Yeah I said Aint.
ATT sent me a out of date business modem AFTER they sent me a modem that didn't work. Now, good news is it worked and worked for months. Bad news WIRELESS DIDNT WORK ONCE I GOT MY IMAC.
Spoke with a gentleman about it. We tried to connect, he said its not going to work. Understandable. Told me to call during business hrs and we will send one right to you.
Emanuel----{Please keep it courteous}---he wants to run through things that have already been established DO NOT WORK. He's stuck in his training mode I guess. He gets flustered and quiet after a while and hangs up. I asked before we started Emanuel are you sure you want to go this route and are you sure this going to work. He said yes and the {Please keep it courteous} kept asking me to put in username and access devise code. 10X we did this. I told {Please keep it courteous} we could do it all long if he wants. I even counted the digits with him. He hung up. He never called back.
Ricky--the manager next. Told him the issues. He hung up. Never called back.
Ellen--the next manager. I had a modem on the way within 10 minutes.
So after 2hrs dealing with these people Ellen resolves issue with a yawn.
Im still highly unhappy that ATT allows stuff like this to happen and worries about quantity and not QUALITY. Its really going to hurt them in the long run. Once my phone service contract is up with them Im out the door with internet possibly. I can spend high dollar elsewhere and be treated with Ellen's service more often.
HERES WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU CALL ATT. ASK FOR U.S. BASED AGENT. Some people can resolve issues with ease. Others have slurpy brain freeze.

I signed up for the internet and Direct Tv bundle, but I'm being charged full price when I signed up for $98.94 bundle. I'm to the point where I want to cancel everything and go somewhere else that is cheaper because this is crazy. I was told after the third billing cycle I wouldn't be charged full price when in fact I am. Can anyone help me understand why I'm still being charged full price and this is my fourth billing cycle?
