Just a WARNING for anyone attempting to do the ATT Uverse internet high speed internet self install. Mine wouldn't work because of a problem with the line coming into the house. I was told a technician could come out and check the line and it would be no charge if it's a problem with the line. He came out and ran something at the box to "condition" the line. He asked if I needed wires run from the box to the house and I told him no, that I would do that myself. Then he told me he had to leave me with a working connection. He never disclosed I'd be charged 100.00 for this service. I could have done it myself for less than 20.00 and a little sweat as I have all the wires and would only had to have bought an ADSL jack for the wall. The technician was a very courteous and nice man, just should have disclosed I'd be charged 100.00 for 6 feet of ethernet cable and a DSL jack. Now I am blindsided with a first bill of over $250.00 and I really don't have the money to pay it. On top of that I was charged 80.00 from my old provider to cancel... all in all $330.00 to switch internet companies.
I have to move in a few months but didn't see this as an issue as I was told I could transfer my service, but now I see some additional charges in my future for that I'm sure, and I'm sure I'll be charged late fees for this first bill I can't pay in full. Has anyone reading this had experience with moving their service?
I have had nothing but bad experiences with AT&T so far. I tried to do a self install also when I first moved to this place... was sent the modem and told my activation date was in 30+ days so I cancelled it that time around. I sent back the modem but they charged me for it still until I called and straightened it out.

I'm in the same boat. Had a tech come out to "activate" dsl. Took him less then 5 minutes. Charged $49 activation fee. Dsl never came on and didnt work for almost 2 weeks waiting for a tech to come out and see why it wouldnt activate.
Call to get a tech out, asked specifically if there would be another charge. Was told no charge for wires outside the house, only if the problem was in the house.
Tech finally comes out, never goes in crawlspace, double checks my connections and whatnot. Finally goes out side and finds the problem outside with their line.
Two months after the fact im charged $99 "tech fee".
