January 2012 I was transferred to ConnecTech for a small internet issue expecting it to be free NOT!. After all I do pay extra to have the fastest service in my area which by the way allows me to make coffee make some calls do some filing ect. while I wait for it to load, okay that's the cost of doing business in a rural area. I was given the sales pitch and it didn't sound half bad. Unlimited tech support 24/7 no contracts for only 15.00 a month and I would only be billed ONLY IF I use the service. NOT! Sounded like the very thing I needed.
Now every one knows to apply Business 101 to any transaction of this nature - ask questions to make sure you get all the UNDISCLOSED information to make sure you completely understand the terms and policies along with taking precise notes based on the information you are being given by the person which whom you have their name the time and date of conversation, which they are recording for their quality control purposes, NOT! you then repeat back your notes to make double sure you have not misunderstood. You know basic COA.
Okay my February bill had the $15.00 fee plus taxes for the assistance I received in January. My March bill was charged for the service but this time I had not used it. I called to inquire that's when I was informed that I had committed to a one year contract which I would be billed for monthly whether I used the service or not. What! Relying on the information from my notes from the initial conversation in January to the person I was speaking, which I applied business 101, apologize discontinued the service and waived the termination fee. NOT!
So today (July 9, 2012) I receive a disconnect notice due to an outstanding balance. After today's 4th call 3 of which were dropped repeating my plait each time I asked for a supervisor, which sounded exactly like the tech which transferred me of course he wanted me to spell out for him what I needed I REFUSED I told him he had all my information in front of him and he can tell me why I was calling. Sure enough he was able to read the complete history of this issue he read off the list of my calls the dates and times and personnel I had spoke with over the past 5 months. But somehow his notes didn't match mine as far as being told 8 times one of which I was given a confirmation no. relating to the termination fee waiver which by the way he was not interested in. He claims on each occasion I agreed to pay the termination fee. He reminded me that all calls were recorded he was accusing me of lying and that they could investigate this matter by review those calls. I thought those were for QUALITY CONTROL?!?
So here are my chooses 6 months and countless hours later:
1) Pay the $100.00 termination fee plus late fees of 65.00. (which by the way every time I called I was told what amount to pay due to the issue at hand.
2) Have them review the recorded conversations which will take longer than the 5 day termination deadline.
3) Go with another provider.
. Really! All over one small issue which I could have had a friend look at the next day!! The time I have tied up in this is absolutely ridiculous I should send them a bill for MY TIME spent trying to resolve this based on their instruction.
Guess what there are no other providers which service my area !!!!!!! They know exactly what they are doing it's it's all a "BIG SCAM" So I will pay the piper take some well given advice and call the BBB so I can continue on with being a self relate citizen and wait for the day when this "SCAM'' is exposed.
