FIRST let me say thanks for this forum and those who help. Please read and advise.....we built a home in a very rural are 4 years ago. At that time only land line with dial up was Avail. So we opted not to have phone hooked up. We had satellite internet installed and after 4 yr of Satellite Internet woes we got word via our neighbor DSL was HERE! Thanks to a new Remote DSLAM...I called local ATT store and they couldn't verify my address said they would have to request Engineering or provision dept. to send someone out to verify I could order DSL...... 3 days later Rep called said I was Able to get it my address had been confirmed ... YES!!!! SO..I Placed order for Fastaccess DSL Extreme 3.0 on Nov, 14th Went by local retail store and picked up Wireless Gateway/Self install kit explained we NEVER had phone service and we have large yard off the main road pretty far- No problem you can get it! So Paid for router left ,received confirmation email with Billing account # and install date.
2 days later ATT Tech arrived to install DSL He Installed new NID (grey box) on house and made the connection for my phone Jack in NID. He said I could go ahead and install Modem inside at phne jack and while he finished up. He then left and came back about 25min. later said I was "ready at the Cabinet" and "at the Pedestal At the Road" but he couldn't finish the install today as planned because I was too far off the road for him to leave the wire to be buried. He added he was opening a ticket for another crew to run/bury the line? I Inquired about this asking if I was to far from the" Cabinet " he said "NO You are roughly 10,700 ft Total from the cabinet (AKA- Remote DSLAM) to your house , everything is ready I just can't hook up the line from the road to your house " he stated he could install up to 1,000 Ft. From Pedestal to NID on any order but since I'm about 2,400 Ft he's not authorized to drop that amount and his supervisor told him to open a ticket for a crew to do complete install soon? Anyone familiar with this? I Politely suggested an Arial run which is about 400ft shorter but he said the power poles were too far apart and they prefer underground anyway....he left Assuring me they would get me going soon.
Its been a week now since install began, Oder status online has changed to "Pending" Please understand Im VERY,VERY Very happy DSL is now avail at my home BUT what started off as a smooth Order and Initial install I NOW have no idea when or if the DSL install will be completed, I admit the 2,400ft run from the road to my house is long but its a straight run, all on my property with no other Underground Utilities. Any thoughts or advice on how to get assure this gets completed? THANKS!

Engineer came out on DEC. 3rd did some measuring ask me about burying line in my yard down my road to pedestal. we agreed on a path...He was very prompt left me his card with his office/cell # said he needed to line up contractor and materials so he was moving my activation date to Dec. 20th which was okay cause I knew they were working on it!
Yesterday (12-13) Burial crew (2 guys) both At&T employees show up with Ditchwitch and Wire. They Confirm route I agreed to and went to work. The line they ran a line must have been as big a round as a dime from my NID at house all the way down my road to Pedestal. They made connections at Nid and pedestal , verified dial tone at Nid and was on their way. SUPER nice, very Knowledgeable guys. Equipment was top notch and you had to look real hard to even notice the ground was disturbed where cable was buried!.
I'm VERY, Very satisfied from sales to install was about a month but I was ALWAYS kept up too date on status of order! oh and Im posting this from my new ATT DSL service! I hooked up router yesterday but got no Internet light. Called in, They said it could take UP TO activation date (Dec. 20th ) to finish line provisioning? But to keep checking it! This morning woke up and it was GOOD to go! Registered and stated using it! Thanks AT&T!.... I know there are a lot of legit complaints on here but its usually only people with complaints who take the time to post so I thought I would share my experience! Thanks
