My AT&T wireless service and reception has been great for the past several years. But recently they put 3G in our area. Ever since then the reception has been noticeably awful and calls drop many times a day. This is happening all across our county. So I doubt it's a "tower" problem. Yes, something is screwed up. For years I have been sitting in my bedroom, doing business on the computer and the cell simultaneously. But not anymore. The reception is so bad in my house that I have to go outside to talk. But even then its "can you hear me now" over and over again. Yet, I see 3 bars. But then again, the bars will go from 3 to zero just by standing still.
AT&T has sucessfully messed up our service in Harrison County (KY) and I am hearing complaints from several other people. I have files a BBB complaint and also sent a letter to VP's office. I don't waste my time talking to "Abdul" or a similar overseas "rep" because it gets us nowhere.
Dealing with a corporate company is like telling Satan to be friendly with God.
Anyone else have similar issues with 3G? I am talking about call quality and not data transfer. I have also noticed that my text messages are now showing "sent successfully" much faster. But they often do not list the recipient, and therefore never reach them.

have you tried turning 3G off for when you make calls? That would help if it's a 3G issue. We recently last year got 3G in Pikeville, KY (KY represent!) and it's drastically improved our call quality and the overall network got better, even though data speeds are slow at times (mainly peak hours)

Yes. I tried turning off 3G. But that didn't help. I figured out that the installation of 3G has created a divider between EDGE and 3G that goes right across our county. It is causing reception to jump between the two services. You can be standing still anywhere and have full bars, then it suddenly drops out. This is an ongoing problem since February. I was told by AT&T President's office earlier in the year that the problem was due to 3G installation not being completed. I had my doubts about that. And now it is September and the problem is still the same.
I was offered twice about getting the Microcell 3G device for the house. Of course, I was told to pay $200 for it. But, I shouldn't have to pay for something AT&T took away since they still charge me the same rate every month. As of right now, I am paying for crummy service. I can't talk in the house, and when I go outside, I have to look like an old Verizon commercial. "Can you hear me now?" I am constantly walking around looking for clarity. It's a real pain. My spouse complains about the same thing. I filed with BBB again, trying to get this resolved. But the lady in the President's office is trying every way in the book to get more money out of my pocket. I got her down as far as expecting me to pay the $200 and then get a $150 rebate after 30 days. Any way you go, they just have to get more money from us. But I'm not going for it. I'll switch to Verizon and sue the heck out of AT&T before that happens. I think there is more than enough online complaints. [Edited to comply with Guidelines]
