Just a summary of what I've been through and noticed.
I've had no data and dropped calls/20-30 of dropped voice starting around 11am - maybe 4pm consistantly for the past few months.
I've contacted AT&T and had multiple cases opened. They come back "solved" without even verifying with me.
In the past I've had my phone replaced twice, sim card replaced, been through tech support dozens of times, and I'm getting nowhere. It HAS to be something with their tower. When tech support runs out of ideas they tell me that I must be out of the signal's range... well I have 3-4 bars and it tells me I have a 3G connection... So why are my calls and data not working????
I've had more issues with AT&T in a day than with Sprint or Verizon over the past several years. Sad...

I work downtown in the Arena district and I've been experiencing the same issues over the past few months. It's only when I'm in this area, so it's definitely localized to a specific tower or two. I'm frequently here 10 hours per day and can confirm that it's an issue that happens all day long (not specific times) so I highly doubt the "congestion" theory. If it *is* congestion, and it happens all day long, then I'd highly recommend adding some more bandwidth down here.

I'd agree. this is the same issue I'm having in Louisville, KY in downtown. It's crazy slow and just outside of the downtown area, the speeds are substantially better. I don't understand why the cities with much smaller population in comparison to places like NYC are getting so much less investment in bulking up network bandwidth handling. Like I said in my post just a little while ago, if you can't support the downtown area of a metropolitan city of 1 million, why would you think investing so much in a downtown area like NYC is ever going to work?
Why doesn't AT&T subsidize my network in downtown Louisville, KY or Columbus, OH with Wi-Fi access points like they do in Time Square? Ignoring smaller cities and only attacking the overpopulated ones isn't exactly putting our confidence in your continued support of network expansion efforts.
If this post ever gets seen by anyone who has even an iota of influence, it would be nice to see AT&T spread out the effort to improve service in ALL cities in the US, and not just pay attention to the biggest cities on the grid.

I noticed this yesterday when I was at Easton Town Center. Luckily they also have free wifi covering the whole area.

I have been having this issue since a long time and have raised more than 3 tickets and no response from AT&T. The checking speed app shows that AT&T server is one mile away and when i try to check the speed using this app, most of the times the app tries to find the closest server and can never find. There is a lot of inconsistency and most of the times (90 of 100), the data isnt working. I cant check my emails and cant do anything with data..Need help

(Sorry I have "corrected" my wording...)
I work in the Nationwide Arena area as well and the service is NOT GOOD !!!!!
It's hit or miss, but mainly SLOW or not at all.
I can have 3, 4 or all 5 bars and it doesn't matter, it can be SLOW.
Again, hit or miss with the data.
Dropped calls 50% of time (which is a HUGE problem!!). What is the point of having a cell phone if in a MAJOR City and not being able to conduct work or personnel business. It makes you look like a fool with people you are trying communicate or do business with.
As a long time iphone user (4-5 years now), The last yr worth or service (not to mention having and "Unlimited plan" that is now "Limited"...) paying $130-160 a month for multiple phones, I'm about ready to jump ship even if the service and speed are equal, just because I am so annoyed with the Data and Phone Service. (OR LACK OF !!!!)

I am having the same problem. Voice is fine, but I have no data service during the day Downtown. After calling twice and having customer service basically tell me they didn't know what was going on, I bought a T-Mobile hotspot to use on a monthly basis. The T-Mobile service has been amazing, although it irks me to have to use it.

We are having the same exact issues (and then some) down I-71 here in Cincinnati. From personal experience, and from what I'm hearing from my friends and different online posts is that the problem is pretty much widespread with AT&T and their overloaded network. Not only that, but the 3G service in Cincinnati is still bad after they allegedly upgraded and tweaked the network back in November of last year. I drop at least 40% of all of my calls, the 3G data is really slow and sometimes won't even connect, the call/voice quality is really bad where you hear crackling and interference in the line, my voice mails won't come through, only some texts will come through, I get network busy/connection error messages a lot, etc. I could go on. After numerous calls and trouble tickets were opened, nothing is ever fixed. I will be switching to Verizon the day my contract is up.
