I am concerned that in the southern WV and eastern KY Verizon has grabbed the ball in the network coverage area. I have heard through the grapevine (family member who is a field technician for Verizon Wireless) that Verizon is projected to launch LTE in southern WV and eastern KY by the end of summer 2012. Furthermore, the company that I currently work for has a very large contract with AT&T and in some areas AT&T uses our fiber optic system for their towers. I currently have an iPhone (personal) and a Verizon work phone, soon my company will be giving all their field techs AT&T iPhones meaning I will have no service in Williamson, WV where I primarily work. So, I will soon be forced to terminiate my service with AT&T and switch to Verizon just so I can have some service where I work. Any response from an actual AT&T representative would be greatly appreciated, and I mean a technical representative who knows what's going on in the field. I would like to stay with AT&T but if there are no plans to expand coverage to Mingo Co., WV and Pike Co., KY I will be forced to switch carriers. Thank You.

I live in Pikeville and I get good 3G with AT&T but we're also blanketed in Pikeville with AT&T. Two new towers just last year. Williamson is a big trouble spot for AT&T as i've never been able to get signal there with them. You'd think a city the size of Williamson they would at least have a small antenna system to at least make calls.
Verizon only has 1 tower in Williamson, that's it. Everywhere else they're roaming on Appalachain Wireless. Appalachian is the one building out LTE here, not Verizon, so the LTE you'll be getting is roaming off of them as they're a part of Verizon's LTE in Rural America Program (which is going to hurt AT&T if they don't start caring about rural areas more) We just got 3G in Pikeville last year and I think that's ridiculous, Pikeville is an extremely busy place with it being the banking/finance, education, and medical hub of Eastern Kentucky
