Me and my wife just moved to a new apartment and we noticed the cell phone coverage there was pathetic. I stay in Culver City, and I expected AT&T to have better coverage here (as I just moved from near downtown LA where the coverage was really good) but I was totally wrong!
As soon as I get near my apartment complex, the cell phone signal drops to a single bar and all through the apartment complex I get 1 or maybe two bars and the calls fail all the time.
I decided to call up customer care over the phone and the experience was absolutely pathetic. They asked me how the coverage was inside my apartment and I said there was NO coverage. On hearing this, they said "We do not guarantee coverage inside buildings and so its your building, so you have to buy the 3G Microcell". I insisted and I was not interested in buying the microcell because of the cost associated with it and the guy over the phone said "Feel free to move to another provider if you feel they have better coverage". Like #$#?
I have a verizon phone from work and it works AWESOME! I have like 4 bars all through in my apartment and I am able to make clear calls without any call drops.
I understand AT&T doesn't have coverage where I stay. The least they could do is offer the Microcell to keep the customer (I have 5 lines on my account btw two of which are in the same apartment and all of them have expired contracts now). I am thus moving all my 5 lines to verizon really soon.
Thanks AT&T customer care for suggesting to move to a competitor!
