By the request of MobileMan, and with Sentry's blessing, this is a new thread to track the pending (soon ;-) release of WM6 for the Treo 750. Please limit this to information on the release, and not hundreds of pages about how unhappy everyone is. Eventually, that makes the thread unusable for those actually looking for information.

Hopefully, this thread will soon turn from news and rumors of the release to tips and discussions on it's use (though I know many can already speak to that).

Current status for those coming here.

The WM6 OS is already avialable on the Palm Treo 750 for AT&T for cooporate customers (buy of 5-10 or more devices), for new device sales from the following link:

It has also been mentioned in Support chats with Palm reps to have been released to a small 
group of high volume cooporate customers for upgrade to current devices only after a huge 
NDA agreement with those companies.

Both of these can be seen as a good thing and as more widespread testing of the update / build 
in real time situations as it has been mentioned from Palm that they have had a particularily 
tough time with issues in this release.

The latest rumored (and I cannot stress enough the word rumor) release date to the general 
population of the update for current AT&T and Cingular devices is Nov. 15th 2007. Again this 
is 10897655453% rumor at this point. -edit- sorry was 15th as next rumored date

Thank you for giving us separate thread...was sick of all the blackjack posts...

I see the Nov 11th date came and went.  I really don't understand how it can be released on corporate phones and orders of 10 phones or more, and no one can tell us anything about our phones....

I am sure it will get here soon.  Contract for me is up next month, really not sure what I am gonna do.  I am running Mobile 6 on mine already but just not happy at all with the communication or custmer service they are giving.  Its really sad too, because my local ATT/Cingular store trys so hard to be helpful.

Wow... that seems kind of weird.  Normally, the rollout of updates and such to businesses takes longer for companies to adopt.  I wonder what the rationale is for doing it this way.  If it meets the standards of the corporate world, it should be higher than the standards for the consumer world.

Agreed, my thoughts are that if there are still minor glitches in the installer/updator that most companies and probably these in specific have a big highly trained it staff such that they can handle install issues better than dumping it in the wild with tom, richard(uneducated language filters) and harry.

I have been following all of this over the last several weeks months etc. Frankly I am not concerned about when the WM6upgrade comes out so long as it is stable and also that the instructions are explicit as to how to go about it whether it comes from palm or ATT I am not intimidated about computers etc but I am not a computer expert. I can certainly follow instructions but they have to be clear and explicit. I would hope that all this delay will result in making this a seamless installation

I feel like a ping-pong ball I have chatted with both palm and ATT this morning and both say they are waiting on each other.  I see post that say it is out for some, I see an add on Dell’s Website for a Treo 750 with WM6.  I can only say I hope it is worth it.  I finally just stopped trying to get e-mail on my device all together because it was so unreliable, and I’m tired of not being able to show my pictures to people because it can’t find my card, or resetting my device every time I want to open a new program!

All those who continue to say that Dell is selling a 750 with WM 6 should look just a bit closer. If you look at the specs, it says that it is “provided” with WM 5 and not 6. Perhaps I’m wrong, but if they are advertising 6 they would have updated the specs, wouldn’t they? So, as far as I can tell, they are shipping with 5 and awaiting the update just like every other individual.

I find it kind of funny that big blue is leaving all of us in the cold for so long... We're the ones who boost their ARPU with our unlimited data packages, and ultra-expensive rate plans.   I especially like how the moderators are so quick to jump on anyones case who has any sort of opinion other than the one they are trying to give us.

I've been waiting patiently, watching from the wings... this is going to be my one and only post about this subject... what I'm wondering is, if this update isn't released by the end of the year, do you guys think that android would be a more suitable alternative.  I'm locked in for the next two years, but if I can flash my device and put android on it, I might consider it, seeing as how Google's customer service is lightyears ahead of big blues, and they're way nicer to the end user.
