I currently have an iPhone 4 and AT&T tells me I may be due for an upgrade on 12/20...
I'm confused about a few things...
1) Is there anything different about my eligibility, being an iPhone user?
2) I hear all sorts of things about possible early upgrades for your monthly service bill being a certain amount and if it has been paid on time (mine has). Could adding a feature for the next couple of months bump up my eligibility date?
3) I've also heard rumors of people going into coporate stores, being nice, letting a rep. sell them a feature, and then getting their upgrade early. Any conclusive evidence?
Thanks a lot for any help!

It makes no difference whether you have an iPhone or a different phone when it comes to caculating your upgrade date. How much you spend per month over the course of the contract, your tenure with the company, and other factors which are not publicly disclosed by AT&T go into your upgrade date.
You can't just add a feature for a month or two to bump up your eligibility date. At this stage, there's very little you can do since your upgrade elibility is less than 2 months. I'm not sure if there's a hard & fast rule, but you have to have had a certain revenue value for a certain length of time to positively affect your upgrade date.
Sometimes you are permitted to upgrade when you are within 30 days of your upgrade date. Ask nicely ![]()

Thanks for that. I figured there were multiple variables to be considered and that since I'm close to an upgrade I couldn't make much of a difference. I have read other posts about the possiblity of an upgrade 30 days before your actual date. That probably depends on what kind of day the rep. you talk to is having, and how nice you can be.
