My plan is now expired and i want to get a new phone. Sadly, the one i want is not offered.

I want a Sony Ericson Neo. So can i just buy it and upgrade my plan?

If you buy the phone, you do not need to upgrade your plan unless you need data? If you bring your own phone, you do not need to sign a new contract. ATT will provide you with a SIM to use. Just make sure the version you buy is unlocked so that it works on ATT's network.

OMG why would you want that phone?, it looks like Xperia Play minus the controller, am I missing something?

Ok, that sounds good.

The plans are a little confusing to me. I am not sure what data plan i need. To me what i need is messaging, google maps, some apps perhaps. But lesser web or video.

I know that with some phones you supposed to get a specific plan.
