Is AT&T GoPhone (Prepaid) purchased on AT&T Website shipped already activated, or does the buyer activate it after it is received in the mail? I am asking this because I have to choose a plan as part of ordering process. Even if I choose the $0.10 per minute plan, does AT&T activate it before shipping or not? I am a post-paid at&t customer and I am buying this phone as a back up phone to my existing device I have, in case it gets damaged etc. I have heard two different scenarios, irrespective of which prepaid plan I choose : (1) When I receive my new phone, it is NOT activated and I can switch the SIM card without activating my new SIM Card by putting my postpaid SIM card in there without any problem (2) AT&T ships out this phone with its SIM already activated and then the phone is locked to that SIM, and I can no longer use my own SIM from the post-paid at&t account. Which of these 2 scenarios is true? I know that if I buy a gophone from Target or Walmart, and don't activate the sim that comes with it, it works fine with my postpaid sim. But I am not sure if a GoPhone purchased on AT&T website gets shipped with its SIM activated or non-activated. Please answer the question if you know the answer.

Yes. The phone will come activated. But I don't see why you can't use your postpaid SIM in the phone. For example, there was a poster who mistakenly activated a second provided SIM in his new gophone and then discovered he had 2 phone numbers! So the phone is not locked to either SIM but either SIM would be locked to the same phone!
In your case, your postpaid SIM will not be locked to the gophone.

When you say '...but either SIM would be locked to the same phone', do you mean to say that my post-paid SIM can be used only on this new Go-Phone device, and not on any other phone device?

That was my thought. If anyone has experience buying from At&t online, please post here.
