Go Phone SIM in Galaxy SIII

I plan to travel soon in the US for a couple of months and in the past I've used a cheap ATT Go Phone. The phone is still active and I have the SIM, but when I put it in my new Galaxy S3 that phone acts as if no SIM is installed. It doesn't complain about being locked, it just states "No SIM card. Emergency calls only" So is it the SIM that isn't registering, or the phone that is the problem? I'm planning to unlock the phone, and was hoping to be able to use this SIM. Will it work?

Where in the world are you now??
As you know Gophone account and SIM Card can only work in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Where you buy your Galaxy S3 from??If you brought it with terms(Contract),100% it is a locked phone.

Get it unlocked!!!

I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada (so that means I'm on the SaskTel network). I'd love to get the phone unlocked, but that is the problem. When I insert the SIM from the GoPhone into the Galaxy, I don't get the expected prompt to enter an unlocking code. It just tells me that there is no SIM in the phone. The SIM does work fine in the phone I took it from (since there's no AT&T here, it roams, but it does so fine). All the online unlocking sites tell me it won't work since it doesn't prompt for an unlock code. What I want to know is if this is something to do with the way SaskTel has uniquely locked the phone, or if it's an issue with my SIM not being recognized for some reason by the phone. I don't have another SIM to try this with.

As you know, our Canadian cell phone company do have an uniquely way to lock out the phones.Telus, Bell,MTS and SaskTel are the hard one to get unlocked.Most of their phones cannot get unlocked by a code.

That's nothing wrong with your Gophone SIM........

So, I guess I'm learning that unlock codes one can buy on the Internet actually come from the telco, so if they don't provide them you can't get one? Do I have any other options to unlock this phone? Can I do so by rooting it and flashing the OS or will it still be locked?

I am not a person in Canada to help people unlocking phones
As far as from my own experience,Rogers phones are the easy one to get unlocked online by code.

Right, you should get someone using a cable and computer to unlocking your Samsung S3. It could be expensive!!!
