Gophone plan for an Aussie visiting San Francisco for a couple of weeks.

Hi all, hoping someone can assist.

I'm visiting San Francisco for a couple of weeks mid November.

I'll be bringing my own unlocked HTC Desire which should be right for bands,

Doing my research it seems that the best plan for me ( based on data/sms requirements ) it to go for the $2/call Gophone plan and then add a $35 200mb plan.

However something I note is that it states

Plus unlimited text and IM to Mexico and over 100 countries worldwide

Included in the 100 countries is Australian External Territories.

Does this term include Australia itself ( Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart , Brisbane ) ???? as the external territories is Norfolk Island, Christmas Island etc....

So in other words can I text my family back in "mainland" Australia under the plan and can they text me back ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

The way AT&T international texting on prepaid works is very unpredictable. For example Russia is not on the list of those countries but in my experience (granted somewhat dated) the text messages from prepaid accounts were covered by the domestic messaging packages, even though it was not supposed to happen. So unless someone with recent experience can answer your question your best bet would be to try and see if it works and how it is being billed.
