DVR and Surround Sound with optical cable

Uverse support tell me that the optical cable link fromt the DVR to my receiver is not passing surround sound.

They tell me that a frimware update will fix this but I cannot get out of them when this will be.

Anyone know?

From, your onscreen menu navigate: Options > Audio Language Options > Digital audio output

Is your language set to Stereo or Surround sound?

Tried this as well, but still doesn't work. Connected to an Onkyo receiver via hdmi and optical cable for sound.

Just was installed Friday the 18th.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated!!
