I really do not need a home phone; always use my cell. Can I cancel my ATT landline phone, not have the Uverse phone service, and still have my high-speed internet and tv service?
I would think yes but want to know before I go down that path. Anyone out there in Uverse land with no home phone?

AT&T landline service is not a requirement for Uverse.
I have Uverse TV and Internet with Vonage for telephone and we have not had an AT&T landline for nearly 2 years. I'm sure that you wil read many opinions regarding reliability of cell and VoIP versus landline service during a disaster, but that is ultimately your decision.

Yes, absolutely. I cancelled my home phone about 2 years ago ... I'm cell only. I have U-Verse TV and Internet, but no POTS and no U-Voice.
The only thing is to make sure you don't have any devices that need a land-line-based phone ... alarm systems, old ReplayTVs, Tivos, satellite receivers, fax machines, etc.
I have an alarm system, but I called them and they set me up with the cell-phone-based communication module so it doesn't need the land line anymore.

Thanks for both of your responses. No, I do not have any of those things that might need a land line. My TIVO is gone now that I have Uverse. Besides, that was already using the internet before I pulled the plug.
I guess I need to make sure that ATT on the land-line side of the business know that I am still using the physical connection for Uverse. It would not surprise me if they "disconnect" everything. I know that is what would have happened several years ago. Hopefully they have better systems that tell them what is going on.

I have had Uverse for TV and Internet for 6+ months. It is a one-person household and most phone calls to to message. They run the gambit of carpet cleaning, home repair and mortgage loans. Those who I talk to on a regular basis have my cell number too. The landline is a waste of $30+ dollars a month. The only hesitation is that I have had the same number for 20+ years. But, I will get over that real quickly as I spend the money elsewhere.
