Long story short--I've had U-Verse for over a year with no problems. Just got a new Sony HD t.v. and since then at least once a day the tv goes to a blue screen or we hit the "info" button on the remote or pretty much any other button and we loose sound and the only way to get it back is to re-boot the system. I can't believe this is good for a new t.v. to be re-booting constantly. I am tired of calling third-world country tech support every day too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm about ready to change carriers.
Thanks!

May I hazard a guess that you've connected the TV using an HDMI cable?
If so, you might try a different HDMI input on the TV, if it has one. If that doesn't work, you can try changing from HDMI to Component cabling and your choice of audio cable (stereo or optical).

The symptom you describe(undesired stb muting) is usually caused by by the tv interfering with the IR signal of the remote. & you have a new tv!
First step is to check your TV for options that affect the lighting of the screen or let the TV adjust based on how bright the room is. Look at these fancy options - if you see one on, turn it off.
Next step is to hide the DVR or tape over the IR receiver and point it about 90 degrees away from where you use the remote. My panasonic plasma was fine with the DVR til I got a new DVR (1225) & it started acting up. Since I do not have any TV options to turn off I did this step & it cured the problem.
If you have an extra remote, program it to change the sound on the STB. Then you can use it to un-mute the DVR when it happens.
There used to be a lot of posts about this issue. I have not seen any in a long time. Look in both forums.

I also find the Sonys tend to look better when the dynamic brightness is turned off. My mother just got a new Sony and she was complaining about the picture. All better when I turned off the dynamic brighness (or whatever it was called) and did some calibrations.

Thanks, I will try this because frankly it's the only reply that I understand.

If changing to another HDMI input does not work, try this: check for these settings on your advanced settings on the TV menu: Dynamic Contrast, Auto or Ambient Brightness, Energy/Power Saver, Intelligent Sensor or Auto Iris.
If you have any of them or similar ones try turning them 'off' one by one until you find the culprit, then turn the non-offending ones back on to double check. All of these can cause Uverse remote problems w/an LCD. ![]()

To Lori_1,
Did you resolve your problem? You may have two problems.
The blue screen may be caused by the HDMI connection. Not the cable itself, but an incompatibility between the TV and the DVR. If this is the case, you need to to use component cables, instead of HDMI, as previously suggested.
The loss of sound (undesired muting) of the DVR is caused by the IR signal from the remote control getting corrupted by "light" form the TV.
If this problem continues & you don't want to try f\experimenting to eliminate it, you can reprogram the remote to control the volume of the DVR, instead of the volume of the TV. The TV volume is left at one setting & the DVR varies the volume when you press the volume button.
In normal operation, you would not see any difference in function. When the info key causes a mute, you can un-mute it by pressing the mute button or the volume button.
