I'm so glad to have found this information. This problem has been driving us crazy. I have a Sharp - AQUOS / 60" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV, Model: LC60E78UN and have been having the same problem, so I guess I need to call Sharp and get my fix.

"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

It appears that this problem has been around since 2007 http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=93

I am still having a problem with not being able to turn on my Sharp LC-c6077un, I keep reading these solutions and Sharp has been no help, we went through a factory reset, nothing changed, I still have to unplug my Att Box to get it to turn on and work properly. It has been two long years of finger pointing. Now my TV is out of warranty and ATT goes through the same routine with me. I have had there techs out 3 times, they can't figure it out. If there is something I have not tried, I would sure like to know, I have spent way to much time and money trying to get a TV to work with a Box. I am ready to take my 230.00 dollars a month to spend else where.

Yes it is a HDMI Issue and yes again, I hooked up the component video and still have to recycle the box for it to work, tried switching boxes, cables, remotes. Thanks for responding

Odd that you would have the problem with component. Did you disconnect the HDMI from the STB? Or, is it still connected?
Have you tried turning on the two devices in two different orders? Try a long delay between turn on.
Do you have addl boxes in the house? Can you swap boxes to see if it is the box?
Ec\ven without these tests I am beginning to think you may have a bad connection to the STB. Is is fed coax? Any way to try a cat5 connection?

I will try the long delay, I have tried swaping boxes, no luck. I tried the component cables by themselves, disconnected the hdmi cable, Component cables did the same thing. All the cable is new and was installed by ATT, I have one of the new wirless boxes, I may try that

So, the only common part is the wiring & the TV oh, and the power feed.
If it happens on component, it can't be the TV.
If it was me I would try cat5 feed, but I understand if it is too much. Can you feed it from the other location by running the cable down the hall?
Is he STB plugged in to a power strip or surge suppressor? Can you use an extension cord to reach a different power source? Ideally the one feeding he TV that works.

I can appreciate some of the questions, some of them shouldn't matter, but will try anyway, I have a Sharp Tech coming on Monday. The tech went to bat for me with Sharp and they are going to take out a capacitor and replace a board with a resister. May solve the problem or not. I am going through a list to trouble shooting this weekend, If I solve it , I can cancel the service call, they agreed to pay for the repair, but service call I am sure there will be a charge since the TV is out of warranty, they have to take in in for a few days. I hope I find a solution to the problem, before I waste more money.

I got my Sharp Aquos back from the sharp service center and I am happy to say it now works the way it supposed , I need to reference a post and solution to this issue because they were exactly right. They change a board and took a capacitor out and replaced with a resistor. There was a harware update for my model LC-C6077-UN purchased from Costco 2 years ago. Sharp covered the repair and pick up and delivery. Cost me nothing for 2 years of having to get up to reset my U-Verse box to get it to work. Thank you for your help and trouble shooting

Why I didn't see this sooner, I spent 2 years with the problem, Sharp did not admit to having a problem but, there was board update for my model LC_C6077UN purchased from costco. A diligent service center went to bat for me, they covered it out of warranty. It works!!! It was the TV after all this time of finger pointing,

Most people without problems do not come to forums.
Originally, the real conundrum was finger pointing on whose fault it was. Based on the great treatment listed above, I would expect Sharp to extend the fix to new sets.
Seems like worst case scenario is you happen to get a bad one & sharp is responsive to fix it. At least you know what to say to them.

I unplug the HDMI cable and plug back in and audio works.
Also My Sharp Aquios will not work with the digital audio out. VERY Annoying when I want to hear a prgram in DD through the AVR. I have togo to the menu and swtich from Stereo to surrond mode.
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-60E88UN. I updated to the lastest firmware with no luck.
I want to upgrade to a Sharp 3d LED but dont want these hassles until a confimed fix or I goto another brand.
Thanks
