Greetings!
I just had UVerse installed today and instantly noticed a volume difference between signal from the box provided from UVerse (Motorola VIP1225) and my other signals (DVD, radio, ipod) coming from my Samsung home theater system. I searched countless other threads in this forum and haven't found any solutions.
I've used the optical audio out with my previous DVR box (Time Warner) and have had no problems. The optical out AND the RCA out of the Motorola VIP1225 has a considerable volume drop. And yes, I've set the Motorola volume at the maximum level of 25.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Same prob here. Had it installed four days ago. I have my DVR going straight into the TV via component stuff for when I watch news and other such stuff that doesn't need a fancy sound system, and then a hdmi cable going to the surround sound for movies and sports.
If I want to listen through my tv speakers the volume is very low. With Time Warner a TV volume of 15 would be fine, 20 would be loud. Now with ATT I need to have a minimum of 35 in order to hear it well on the TV. I jiggled all my component cables, made sure they were secure, still very poor sound.
Surround sound is normal, but I don't want to have to turn that on for everything.

It's possible your installer did not turn the volume of the STB/DVR completely up when doing the install. I have 1 DVR and 1 STB that the volume is turned completely up and I control volume from the tv.
The other two STBs I use to control the volume as one is hooked up to my computer and I don't have a remote for the computer speakers.
When I had my initial install done, the installer made sure it was turned up to 25 prior to programming the remote for TV controls.

And how would I go about turning the volume up on that?

You can try selecting the AT&T button on your remote and see if it turns up the volume of the reciever. If it's been programmed for your tv it may not work though.

Try these instructions:
Remote Control Volume Instructions
09-24-2007 12:31:22 AM
Section 2--
http://helpme.att.net/pdf/uverse/remote_control_us
Setting up your Volume, Channel and Power Options
2) Press the "OK" button and release it and the AT&T key at the same time. All the universal lights will flash twice.
3) Type 955. The AT&T key will flash twice
4) Press "Enter"
Now you can turn your motorola box all the way up. Once you get it set how you want, we need to set the remote back to control the TV volume instead of the motorola box. To do that:
1) Press and hold the AT&T button on the remote
2) Press the "OK" button and release it and the AT&T key at the same time. All the universal lights will flash twice.
3) Type 955. The AT&T key will flash twice
4) Press "TV". The TV light will flash twice
All of this is assuming that the TV button on your remote is already programmed to control your TV.

Is your tv connected to the stb using coax? If so, then the volume level is lower. If you can try using the svhs, or the composite output (yellow rca connection) You will also have to use the red and white rca outputs and connect them to your television. Your audio volume will definitely be a lot louder and stereo.

If I watch an off air or Sony streamed movie on my Sony TV volume needs to be set at about 20 for comfortable listening. The moment we try and watch Uverse volume needs to be up at about 50.
Uverse volume is at the max of 25. TV is connected to the DVR using HDMI.
TV2 Client version is 2.1.2295.10(release).
UI:5.4.4
Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Menu -> Options -> Audio/Language Options -> Digital Audio Output and set the setting to Stereo instead of Surround Sound.

I set the audio to stereo. Made no difference.
Thanks for the suggestion.
