Also, if i am recording 2 shows and also 2 tvs are being used for live tv, kids turn on a 3rd tv and boom it asks to interrupt a show, etc...
Come on ATT, u told me in December that within a month or so u were switching from motorola boxes to scientific atlanta boxes which are supposedly better with more bandwidth needed to run hd on all tv boxes at once, not 1 at a time. i was told this 8 months and still same crappy motorola equipment.
we want to be able to watch recorded dvr shows on any tv in house, not just the 1.
Todd

B. Also, if i am recording 2 shows and also 2 tvs are being used for live tv, kids turn on a 3rd tv and boom it asks to interrupt a show, etc...
You've got 4 streams. How many do you want? 6...8...10???? Does Verizon offer UNLIMITED streams?

We've had U-verse in our new neighborhood in Fort Worth since Dec. '07. I hate the motorola DVR, u can watch tv on any of our 4 boxes, but only watch recorded shows on the 1 main DVR tv. Verizon has commercials now showing u can record on 1 tv, but watch from any tv in house. i am sick of this aspect of u-verse....if verizon can offer these better dvrs than so can ATT.

The stream limit has nothing to do with the brand of DVR or STB that ATT uses, so you were either misinformed or you misunderstood.
Do you really want a DVR like Verizon? Try a few Google searches and you will find that the commercials don't tell you the whole story about the Verizon DVR. There are many complaints about the video quality on other sets and flaky HD.
I'd rather have a THDVR that works in three months than one that stinks now.

Actually, yes, Verizon does have ulimited streams. Verizon modulates an "industry standard" digital cable signal onto their fiber. That's why they're able to use off the shelf Motorola cable gear that the cable companies are using, and why CableCARD Series 3 HD TiVos work on FiOS. That also means, like cable, you can split the signal to as many receivers as you want, without any stream limits.
Of course, that doesn't apply to their whole home DVR - I assume there's limits on how many TVs can be pulling content off a remote DVR.
Since U-verse essentially puts their set top boxes on a home network already, it's prefectly set up for THDVR, if they can just get the software to us. ![]()

Thanks for the info rob.
Never had Dish/Direct and the 2SD/2HD streams has never been a problem for us.

Their DVR has 2 QAM tuners, so only 2 programs from their RF video (cable) feed (not unlimited streams) can be watched/recorded at any one time. Someone else could be watching VOD on the IP stream at the same time, so it looks like only 3 different programs at any one time from their hybrid cable, IPTV system.
