Power Usage and picture freezing

There are a lot of posts about the picture being pixilated but I have not seen a post with the same thing I am experiencing. I have had UVERSE for a couple of months and am happy with the service. Today I decided to get off the couch and get on the treadmill while watching TV. When I turn on the treadmill the TV in the same room is unwatchable. The picture pixilated and then freezes. I turned the treadmill off and the pictures plays. I thought it was only the TV in the same room but it is not; it also affected the TV in my bedroom the picture pixilated but not to the point of completely freezing. I have six boxes, only the one in front of the treadmill was on. I checked the other rooms and only two have issues when I turn on the treadmill. My bedroom and the gameroom. The treadmill is in the gameroom. I had Time Warner before switching and there was no problem with the boxes when I turned on the treadmill. I do not understand why turning on the treadmill would interfere with UVERSE TV. My guess would be something to do with power usage. Has anyone had problems with the picture when something else gets turned on?

The treadmill is a big problem, some people have had to get electricians to bring a separate 'clean' feed up just for the treadmill. Moving the treadmill or running a long extension cord from another room were some other fixes, but you already have a big problem and I don't think this will fix it.

Thank you for your replies. I'm off to Best Buy to look for a power conditioner surge protector. If that doesn't work then I'll get an electrician to see what he can do for me.

Update;

Not knowing if the power conditioner would work I did not want to invest a lot of money in one. So I bought the Monster Power - Home Theater PowerCenter surge protector with stage 1 clean power and that fixed my problem. I connected it to the TV across from the treadmill and it worked. Did not experience any freezing or pixilated pictures. The only issue it has is when switching to a recording. It seemed like it was taking a long time to play so I had to turn off the treadmill and once the recording started playing I could turn the treadmill back on and watch the program. Turned out to be an inexpensive fix. I can live with turning off the treadmill to get the recording to play before turning the treadmill back on.

Glad you got your problem resolved, but............I thought those treadmills were just used as clothes hangers. I mean, that's what we always used ours for.....till we actually started putting the clothes in the closet! An amazing concept!

You might try the surge protector mention in the previous post;

I plugged the tv and att reciever into the monster . Also tried the switched and unswitched plugs. Still the recorded shows freeze. Reg tv works fine

Did you try the trick of starting the DVR with the treadmill turned off and then turn the treadmill on after the video starts?

If this does not work, we could use more info on your configuration.

When you say "receiver" above, do you mean DVR or non-DVR STB?

When you say "reg tv works fine" I assume that you are still talking about U-verse but it's just not played from the DVR.

This is not the uverse unit that we record on. Yes tried that trick and same result. When I say reg TV, I mean normal operation over uverse works fine on this TV with treadmill operating. I onle experience the "freeze" when I try to watch a recorded show. I have 5 TV"s and 5 uverse recievers, this is the only one I have a problem with. Tried rrunning treadmill to see if it affected any other TV's while watching recorded shows. They are not affected

Sounds like could be a cable/splitter problem if your on coax. Other wise your could try the conditioners on the DVR and the Gateway.

As far as treadmills being a common cause of problems, I don't own one so this is just a theory, but I think the issue could be bad grounding. Either in the treadmill itself, or the outlet/circuit it is plugged into. I would think with that belt going round and round like that, it would build up a good static charge like a van de graaf generator and without a good ground to bleed it off, it might be creating excess noise on that circuit.
