I have the placed the ATT receiver for my office TV in the attic directly above the TV for esthetic purposes. As the day heats up, HDMI connectivity starts having a problem with lots of static until eventually there is total loss of connection. It does get pretty hot up there but I was wondering if this is normal behavior or a defective box. If I put a small fan on the receiver it seems to fix the problem, but that's not a great solution.

It's expected behavior for a TV receiver placed in a very hot location. I would expect the life of that receiver to be very short.

Rule of thumb on where to place anything electronic......If it's comfortable for you it's comfortable for the electronics. So would you sit in the attic to watch TV?
