Remote Control Code for Yamaha RX-V661

I just bought an AV receiver from Yamaha (model RX-V661) and am trying to program the UVerse remote to control this receiver. While  several codes listed in the remote control manual seem to work with the volume control of the  receiver and will also turn the  receiver off, I have not found a code that will also turn this receiver back on. I  tried all ofthe  codes that were listed under Yamaha in  the  manual
Does anybody know  the correct code to accomplish this?
The  original Yamaha remote has two buttons, one to turn  the receiver to standby, and another one to turn power back on. Is it possible that  this is  the cause of the failure to control this receiver with the  UVerse remote?

Very possible, and its compounded since you really have no way of knowing which buttons are getting mapped to your uverse remote when you are programming it.

Basically you're getting a "best fit" when you code a remote.  Good luck, and if all else fails you could duct tape your yamaha remote to the back of your uverse remote =)

The receiver should turn on/off via the same remote signal.

Now if your receiver has a serperate on/off button the the remote(look at the remote that came with it) that is a different story.

As I recommended in another thread, you might just want to pick up a good universal remote like the Logitech harmony line. They are getting decent and price and can control ALL aspects of your equipment, not just a few functions.

Just had U-Verse installed this weekend and I am having the same problem with not only my Yamaha receiver, but also my Yamaha C740 DVD player. I can get the ATT remote programmed to turn off the power on both, but not turn on the power. Any ideas anyone?

I have the same here with my Yamaha components. Frustrating, as it would be nice to be able to only use 1 remote when watching TV.

I also have a Yamaha HTR 5850 that has a 2-button remote (separate on and off buttons).  The U-verse remote will turn it off and control volume, but not turn it on.  I noticed this thread and would be very interested in learning if anyone has solved this problem.

Thanks.  That was actually one thing I was thinking about trying.  The problem I'm having with the logic in that is none of the Yamaha codes seem to work to energize the receiver and it has to be energized for the U-verse remote to learn.  It makes sense, but I'm not sure how to accomplish it.  Any ideas?
