Remotely accessing the 3800 gateway

When AT&T first had me setup my 3800 gateway, they had to remotely access the 3800 to redo some settings. I would like to be able to access my gateway remotely as well - using the password of course. I really would like to be able to change settings in the firewall or other settings from work.

Hmm..  I don't think that is possible.

edit..  It is designed for remote troubleshooting but I don't personally know how you could use that to gain remote access yourself.  I would think if it were possible for everyone then it would be a security risk.

I don't think that would work from the internet side of the RG, it would from the inside though.  They use the management software to get into the RG from their end of it.

Well......when I go to that address I get a complete summary of my whole system and can make changes to settings to things like the firewall, clock settings, etc......but that requires the password and that is printed on the side of the RG. So, ignorant as I am on these things.....I just assumed everyone could do this. I found it because the installer walked away and left the screen up on my desktop computer. So I saved it as a bookmark.  But I admit I have not tried it from a computer outside my system.  So perhaps you are correct on that KK.  I have only accessed it from the three computers on our local network....the desktop and the two notebooks.

Yeah, you're supposed to be able to access your RG from your lan, but KK is right about remote access.  Otherwise scenarios like what KK and spd2demun showed us earlier this year would be a bit more prevalent I would guess...but then again I'm no expert
