Hi everone,
I just had my install attempted today, It Failed at the 1st step. The tech tested the line and found the "unit" at the street didnt have enough power to reach the house. He called someone else and they are attempting the fix ,mabe by tomarro.
He did in the mean time install the NID ( found the glossary) and he was impressed I had pull strings set up for him ,took everyones advice about making the tech. happy.
I told him the existing coax was ok but would like to keep it as I have a HD antenna and will use it as another input to my TV's . He didnt have a problem with that and I now have another day now to decide coax or cat5e.
While studying the messages here I was under the impression that Cat5e install was better but now found one post that says Coax is. The tech also said his experiance is Coax gives a better picture, should I go with a coax or cat5e install? He looked it over and is going to install the RG under my basement stairs (central location) and run cat 5e from it to the NODE. Then run to each TV with_______ and then ethernet from RG to both computers ( desk tops).
If I go cat5e he said he would have to install a switch, which will allow me to hook up more computers in the future, and I'am not planning on any more so.....what do you all think?

Sounds like you and your premtech have a solid plan of attack. I have all cat5 and the rg wall-mounted in a central location. I have no problems with my setup. Hope that helps....
