Is it visible in the Dashboard even if you're not using it as an STB? I've never seen UV listed before, but do see competitor icons.
Thanks for the update, LD. ![]()

I don't know, since all of my Xboxes have the Uverse software installed, but I would imagine that it doesn't since with Xfinitity and Fios you can download the application directly through XBL and you still can't do that with Uverse.
It seems to me that eventually an Uverse subscriber should be able to do a self install downloading the software through XBL...

You are correct, UV isn't there since we don't have the kit. ![]()
Agree, tell them to get on that, will ya?
j/k!
What exactly do you think they're working on that wasn't right, enough so that they (temporarily) pulled it? If you can't discuss here, send a PM. ![]()

Aside from streaming HD movies from On-Demand, the Xbox works perfectly as a STB.
I don't know why they pulled it, but I think it had something to do with its marketing. The original price of $99 per box was a bit high. Also it probably wasn't marketed well, so this feature got ignored by most. Only people looking forward to this feature probably got it.
I also find it difficult to believe that Microsoft was going to retool a perfectly good STB emulator for the Xbox, to retool it for Kinect, it really doesn't need it.
It is cool now, since U-verse is now part of the dashboard, you can launch it via voice command through Kinect. You can launch U-verse simply by saying "Xbox..TV.......U-verse"...

I missed the boat, so will have to be content to yell at my phone/remote, for now. ![]()
Yup, think the way they marketed it was not a good idea--most people who Xbox have no trouble setting up equipment/connections, and probably already have the remote control!

Yeah but the update was supposed ot add in Kinect integration into the U-Verse app itself (ie say Xbox Pause will pause the live stream/dvr/vod show) this would be nice for when I can't find the remote and want to stop the show immediately.
Resident Xbox ACE. Ask me almost anything about U-Verse on the Xbox.

Kinect integration sounds nice in theory, but I don't think it would work well in practice.
As it is now the Xbox is emulating an U-verse STB, and is updated just like a regular STB. Adding Kinect integration would likely require a fundamental recoding of the emulator, and would need to be separately supported by at&t.
The Verizon and Comcast Apps, can easily accomidate Kinect because they are custom Apps built from the ground up to work with Kinect. U-verse however is based on Windows Media Center, once or if that platform get Kinect support is probably when it may come to U-verse.

I really feel like UV customers have been used as lab rats for this project, when all the while, MS was using what they learned to launch their own extended TV service. Not happy how we've been put on the back burner with this, while Comcrap and Verizon are ahead of us.

I do find it very odd that 10 months ago at&t suggested they were all set to go with the Xbox update with Kinect, and then nothing happened. I don't think there are enough people for at&t to support a different platform, when the current Xbox platform functions the same as the standard STB...

I received the XBox Uverse app disk from a friend. It was easily installed, and everything works great except for the fact that Uverse no longer adds Xbox as a provisioned STB. I spoke with a Tier II support person named Amanda and she said they can no longer provision the Xbox. I'm a bit disappointed.

I'm sure that they can still provision them, but they won't because they were told not to. I was still able to provision a new Xbox after one of my units broke down (well after at&t suspended the Xbox program). Since I signed on to the Xbox program from the beginning, I didn't encounter any problems...

What is going on with this? I am definitely interested in getting this yet AT&T has been compeltely quiet on this since they stopped offering it. 1 less box below my HDTV sounds awesome and so does not having to pay $7 a month for additional receivers. I would like to actually do the right thing and legally buy the disc from them that contains the UVerse app. Heck, even if I "get the disc from a friend" it sounds like you can't get them to actually provision your XBox 360 so you are still screwed. Didn't they suspend this program around the time one of the major XBox 360 dashboard updates were coming out and the rumor was they were going to add Kinect functionality to the app? I hav=te how quiet they have been about this. At least say it is no longer avialable and they won't be releasing an update for this app.

Unfortunately to get the XBox to act as a STB it must be connected directly to the Uverse Residential Gateway (RG) and cannot be behind another router. This is due to the authentication feature of the Uverse service I understand. This is a real bummer for me as I have a Windows Home Server (WHS) and the XBox also wants to see that device as well to play the media files there. Therefore the WHS and the XBox both must be connected to the RG. The Motorola 3800HGV-B RG is only a 10/100 MB router which is really old and slow for flinging around large files. But with the WHS and XBox both being forced onto the RG I finally gave up and have the entire network on the 10/100 RG router. To put a GB router behind the RG would work for creating the faster network between my desktop, tablet, WHS, Hava server, and XBox but then I would have to give up on the Uverse STB service on the XBox.
Since both my XBox and regular Uverse STB are in the living room it would seem redundant, however I use it for my wife to watch her show on the big TV using the XBox while I use the regular STB connected to the Hava server to stream the TV service to my office, work, or anywhere while I am outside the home. That is a really fun feature, it’s just a shame that in 2013 that the premium home internet and TV service company (AT&T) only offers 10/100MB equipment. Seems a little dated to me as all my devices came with GB NICs for about the last 8 years. With Moores Law that is like 5 generations of technology ago. If anyone has another solution I am all ears.

Last year I bing "Xbox 360 U-verse disc" and found .iso of it, which I burn to a DVD+rw. It loaded and install the u-verse software perfectly, but needed to be provision by AT&T. I was told by AT&T that U-verse on Xbox is no longer being offer to customer and there would be a $99 charge for the kit plus a truck roll charge to install. So I gave up.
This morning there was a power surge that fried the DVR. So I live chat online with technical support to create a ticket to receive a new DVR. After the ticket was sent they ask is there anything else. I asked them if it was possible to provision my Xbox 360 since I need something watch. Less than 5 minutes had U-verse up and running on the 360.
So anyone out there that want to use there 360 as a set-box keep trying, someone will approve it.
