Just curious (if anyone using Xbox as an STB), is anyone seeing problems with using HDMI?
Does it ever lose signal (like for some TVs with a direct connection to a UV STB)?
I'm bringing this up because son has been having an issue with HDMI directly connected to Xbox (not using as an STB).
We've narrowed it down that it seems to be that Xbox's HDMI does not support 1080i (but does for 1080p) without PQ issues on older TVs. If this is the case, then using XB as an STB might not be an option except for the living room TV, unless we go back to component?

I dont have any problems with my xbox as a STB. I have an older elite (black 120gb), one of the first Xbox 360 to add HDMI ports. It is set to output in 1080p, but you should not have issues outputing to 1080i, The xbox has a built in scaler that converts native content (480/720p/1080i/1080p) to output to your desired resolution. It might be a cable issue, try a different HDMI cable or even go component (analog) to transmit 1080i.

Thanks for the reply! Son tried all of your suggestions, and it appears that his TV is older and something isn't working right. He was using component and wanted to go with (less clutter) HDMI. ![]()
But, he's not using it as an STB, just for Xboxing. I wanted to know in case he ditches the XB and I could use for a free STB elsewhere. Thanks, again for your help!
