Is there any reason that you are not connectiong the DVD player directly to the TV?

I have the same question as TG. But if you are using an A/V distribution box of some kind. Make sure you are going into the inputs from the DVD player and running the output to the tv. Also, make sure you are connecting to the proper inputs on the tv. Without more info that is all of the info I can offer.

I am going from dvd to a/v box, but the only input jacks on the tv are connected from the at&t uverse box. It would seem i would have to go from a/v box to at&t receiver, but I can't seem to figure what port to come out of on a/v box

These are composite video (yellow) & audio (Red/white) RCA jacks.
Connect a cable from the STB to an input on the a/v. Move the TV end to the A./V input.
Another set from the DVD to an input on the A/v.
Connect the output of the A/V to the TV input.
Do you have a manual for teh A/V? What is make/model?

I use the a/v box to switch between dvd, vhs,cd player and tv. It also runs my surround sound. The a/v box is Sony STR DE 915, it's older. Don't have the manual but will attempt to get it on line.

You have a new HDTV and it does not have multiple inputs for HDMI, component, and composite?

Never mind, thank you very much for your input. I just realized that when they installed uverse, I did not have an HD TV so they had to use cables to run the SDTV. I just realized, with your help, that the only connection necessary to run HDTV is the HDMI cable. Opened up the ports on the tv. Got it done, thanks again
