Yes, I have seen that on occasion also. Obviously it is a bug since the THDVR Phase 3 Update. I'm sure it will be addressed in the future.

This same thing occasionally happens to me. Often enough that I know about it, but not often enough that I've started troubleshooting steps, like checking my wiring.

I am a new customer to at&t U-Verse and I have this problem all the time with my bedroom box. I have tried everything but the message keeps coming back. Never does it appear in the main unit. I have the wireless box in the bedroom, so maybe it gets interruption from another source? Annoying for sure. ![]()

If your install is coax check and make sure your connections are tight on all of your stbs and RG. Sometimes they come loose, I don't know how or why but that is what happend to mine. I tightened the coax connectors and the issues went away.

I don't think the tightening-the-coax hint will work as well with a wireless box. ![]()
This happens as a result of the STB losing communication with the DVR. It could be a lose cable somewhere (e.g.. between the DVR and the RG, or between the RG and the Wireless transmitter), or it could be the result of wireless interference. It happens to me in varying frequency on both of my STBs, but only at the level of it being a mild nuisance (two or three times a month per STB).

But really I think it is a wireless interference as I live in a condo and have wireless from every unit near me.

RG stands for Residential Gateway, the 2WIRE unit.
STB stands for Set Top Box. The Cisco or Motorola box translating the IPTV into a video signal for the TV set (that such things used to sit on top of, before TV's became thin things that have no top to speak of.) The DVR is actually a STB, too, but we normally mean the other boxes when we say STB.

I agree.

I've got one of the new wireless STB and get the same message. I find that if I click the message, which does take you back to the list, and then click resume play on whatever recording I'm watching, that the message goes away. I have not seen this on the wired STB that I have...believe in my case that it's isolated to the wireless box.

See the existing thread on the issue with the wireless receiver.

I have been having the EXACT same problem. We just had a technician come out to our house and replace our router, but sure enough the problem is still there. Either way, thanks for the postings...this may have saved me from getting them to replace the DVR and lose all of our recordings.
Please fix ATT. Otherwise, your wireless receivers are going to start getting a bad rap.

So this bug only effects wireless STB's?

I had the offending box that was giving me trouble replaced and since then I have not had this issue. My suggestion is to call U-Verse Tech Support and ask them for a new box. They will UPS it overnight to you and it SHOULD solve your issue. BTW there is no charge to do this. Just return your old box in the prepaid UPS box. ![]()

I have the same issue on wired STB's, but not nearly as often as he describes. The STB loses sync with the DVR and has to relocate it and rebuild the available show information.

Since this happened I called several times and heard several different EXCUSES. They sent me a new DVR box (worked good for 2 weeks), they replaced the box in bedroom twice with last time being a wireless box to see. Again nothing worked right. It happens on my 2 boxes but never DVR box.
Worse thing is, I have this service for over 2 years and all they want to offer me is $10 a month credit for my problems. I most likely will be going to Comcast again. Service is cheaper and told them and said I email an estimate. They do not care it appears.

I'm having the same issue!!! It's super annoying!! Definitely thinking of getting rid of these wireless boxes since they've been nothing but trouble since I had UVerse installed. The remote is an issue too. Oh and the rebooting. Don't get the wireless boxes.

I just posted in the thread
about the same thing. Just had everything but the DVR replaced, and still have the issue. Is anyone with a wireless box not having the issue? If so, how is your network set up? I'm using direct CAT5 connect for DVR and WAP. I have 2 other wired devices in RG also. Have several wireless devices through RG wireless including laptop, printer, and cell phones when I'm home.
Considering a gigabit switch to put the DVR and WAP on to see if it improves connection between the 2 and a 4 port ethernet and wireless router in bridge mode to connect all other traffic. Maybe RG unit is the issue with too much traffic?

This is my first posting so I hope I'm posting in the right area. I am having the same issue I guess that everyone else in this thread is having and it's that "press OK to browse a list of recordings" message that pops up while watching a recording. It is annoying as heck and it happens every single day and I just can't take it. AT&T has sent techs out here to replace both of my wireless receivers twice and also my WAP has been swapped once and it took about 20 calls for them to acknowledge that this is an known issue. Anyway I talked with a tech today and he's in the VIP department I guess it's because I've been calling so much I'm getting on their nerves LOL which I don't care just as long as they fix the problem. Well he told me that he is sending me out their newest Gateway model the 2 wire Hgv-3801 and that is has a stronger signal and will remedy this issue with that annoying message. My question is will this actually work, will this new gateway stop this signal issue altogether? Thanks for your time in advance.

So, Kenneth, your saying this has been an issue since at least October of last year, and AT&T still has not figured out how to fix it after nearly a year? Pretty sad, but typical.

I don't have the issue anymore because I took some advice from a user I got rid of the crappy wireless boxes and went wired and everything works smooth. The wireless stuff is just crap I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. AT&T should have perfected this before offerening it to the public. I will give the advice that was given to me if this annoys you "GO BACK TO WIRED BOXES"

If you go back earlier in this thread, you can see that it was started in October of last year prior to when the wireless receivers were introduced. The issue was occurring on the wired receivers.

It occurred more frequently last year right after the THDVR Phase 3 Update was rolled out. It seems to occur less now, but it still does happen on occasion on the wired receivers.

well knock on wood it hasn't happened to me period but I would take it happening every now and then appose to every single day about 2 and 3 times per hour which is exactly what happened with the wireless boxes, I couldn't get through a simple 2 hour movie without that message coming up.
