Can you switch the STB with another one from elsewhere in the house where the problem is not occurring and see if the problem stays in your daughters room or if it follows the STB? That is the first thing I would do. It would give some indication of problems with that particular STB....or not.

If the issue follows the stb then call ts and let them know you need to have an stb replaced. Let them know you moved it to a different room and the problem occurred in the different room as well.

I too have that same problem. Started to occur recently. I have to reset the STB to get it working again. The main STB with the DVR works fine. I only have the one STB besides the main one so I can't be switching out any other one.

Follow these directions to do it w/o a reboot:
2) Press the "OK" button and release it and the AT&T key at the same time. All the universal lights will flash twice.
3) Type 955. The AT&T key will flash twice
4) Press "Enter"
Now you can turn your motorola box all the way up. Once you get it set how you want, we need to set the remote back to control the TV volume instead of the motorola box. To do that:
1) Press and hold the AT&T button on the remote
2) Press the "OK" button and release it and the AT&T key at the same time. All the universal lights will flash twice.
3) Type 955. The AT&T key will flash twice
4) Press "TV". The TV light will flash twice
All of this is assuming that the TV button on your remote is already programmed to control your TV.

Do you and the original poster have your volume controlled through the STB or the TV or another component? What I'm trying to get at is the STB muting or is trhe TV or other device? Maybe the remote's signal is getting corrupted and is muting in error?

HELP. I have the same problem. Has only happened to the TV with the RECORDER attached to it and it seems to be happening 3-5 daily. Every time I have to unplug it to reset, I loose a big chunk of the TV shows I recorded at the time. Please tell me someone has found out how to fix this? I know AT&T has not been able to help with this problem.

The easiest solution I have found is to have a second remote that is not programmed to control the TV and unmute the box when it happens.
I have had 3 different DVR STBs and they have all done this. I haven't had this happen on the standard STB.
